my cats get on top of my games by jumping from the control panels up to the tops, and walk around. normally this isn't an issue as they don't cause trouble, but i was vacuuming the game room today while cleaning and one of the cats freaked out, fell off of my recently restored wizard of wor, and put two nice one inch gashes in the side art on one side.

so, any ideas?

just keep yanking them off the games...not forcefully but with enough force for them to know not to go on anymore. my cat learned this early from attempting to claw and/or sit on my expensive music equipment.

Maybe put some double stick tape on the top of the games (they hate that). Other than keeping them out of the room with the games, I think it's gonna be hard to keep them off. Cats like sitting in high places.

I took some packing tape and stuck a bunch of thumb tacks through it, it sticks right down and will make going up there very uncomfortable. I had a cat that would go across the top of my entertainment center knocking stuff off, a few strips of tape in the spots she would jump up on and it quit happening.

:)

Nerf Gun

Wont hurt the cat or the game but the moment they hear it being cocked or shot they KNOW they should not be there after a couple of peltings they stay off for good.

Cat repellant. Its used to keep cats off of couches and such and is suppose tyo be odorless

Antifreeze.

Just kidding, I love cats.

But that would work.

Does aluminum foil really work? I'll have to try that!

Try the simple methods first. Shooing them off or maybe build a cat shelf that is taller than the arcade game.

Other methods are chemical repellents.

RFID the cat and every time they get close to the arcade machine maybe a buzzer or a large noise to scare them off.

Worse way to get a cat off a arcade machine is with a electric collar. While it cure the cat of every wanting to go on the arcade machine. Traumatic events might cause other issues, Such as not using the cat pan or becoming highly anti social.

You have to give them something else to play with like one of those carpeted cat "condos" or...

don't scare the cats when they are near the games. Otherwise let them be. My cat has only done or nearly done damage to I think two game related things. One was the millipede marquee frame when I was prepping it for a new marquee overlay. Cat jumped up on counter where I was working and sent the frame flipping through the air. Hit the floor and broke into about 4 pieces. Another time the cat was doing the thing where it goes nuts and runs through the house like crazy letting out all that pent up energy from being an indoor cat. My roommate was chasing the cat and it went flying up my restored tron where I had the new side art taped in place waiting to apply. Cat reached the top of the cab and grabbed the upper side of the cab claws out. Missed putting holes or a tear in the side art by millimeters. No damage to the cab luckily.
