Holy crap... do people really pay nearly $200 for a friggin' wiring harness?

Hell... I've gotten whole games (with the harness!) for less.

Not to mention Dave Adams (Travis) is a piece of garbage like none other.

First off, I do not know the seller, nor affiliated in any way shape or form. That needs to be said, as to hopefully show I am not biased in my thoughts. But here are my observations.......

A) You balk at the $200 harness price tag. Did you happen to notice the sellers prices are listed in CANADIAN Funds? (At least that's what I see) Take into consideration of exchange, you can knock about 25% off that to get a US funds price. Shipping from Canada to the US can be expensive, so the way I see it, any bonus of exchange washes out shipping.. so its like getting the product with free shipping for the list price.

B) If Someone gets a cabinet that has been totally gutted. And I mean nothing in it at all. you NEED a harness. The voltages and signals do not just randomly jump through the air to the proper terminals on Monitors, power supplies, and PCBs,
Not everyone wants to or has the skills make one. This goes for the ones here who are collectors and want to restore their game as close to Factory as possible - especially a Non Jamma game.

C ) the more people who get into the "hobby' the more people who want such items, increase the supply/demand factor. How many times have we seen on here people finding "Barn finds" that they do a total restore on the cabinet and wood? Having the option for brand new, Non Hacked, Non Corroded , Non Mouse Chewed or Peed On, Known no shorts to fry the rare PCB board you just paid $500 for, Just secure in place harness has an extreme convenience factor. Not to mention peace of mind!

D) Wire costs money, Plugs, Pins, Connectors cost money, Time cost money. The Knowledge to know how many wires, what gauge, and how long costs money. Honestly how much do you think parts alone would cost you? Then the knowledge of how long? And what do you value your time at? Most repair techs I know are easy $50-80 US an hour.

In a different perspective, if you bought a car, but it didn't have Satellite radio, Is it the fault of Best Buy, or their installers for having the ability to sell you one for $150? just because you can buy an AM?FM radio alarm clock with the flip over digits at a garage sale for $5 does not make the $150 Satellite radio any less valuable in either a Convenience or Monetary capacity. Not to mention it is your money, you have free will, and can chose to spend it on said radio or not.

I respect the frugal desire, and the ablity to find complete games on the cheap. But dont let the wallet and personal views of the seller blind yourself or others to a true value this can be. There was a time we used to throw used arcade cabinets away in the dump. Now, people pay $100+ for a used blank no wiring no coin door no monitor cabinet.

You dodged an ethical bullet, not a monetary one ;)
So very true. Buying a harness from him may have worked out, I'll never know. I'm glad this forum exists to help out newbie's like myself avoid potential losses. I'm happy to have found what I needed here, and be supportive of trustworthy members. The dollar amount of his harness isn't a big deal.

I've been on the receiving end of both ethical and monetary losses in life, who hasn't. Losing money sucks, and I've lost big time. Not being honest, trustworthy, a thief isn't worth it. Period.

I know people outside of Klov that have ordered from him, not knowing his history. They received their items with no issues

I dont know this history here but it's a wire harness. Lol

Not much to go wrong if done correctly. If someone wants to pays $200 so be it.

No... you don't know the history. This guy took this community for TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars. Anyone who spends a DIME with the son-of-a-bitch (edit: KNOWINGLY... and KNOWING his history) is slapping DOZENS of community members across the face... [edit] It's hard to blame those not in the know... which is the purpose of this thread (and others)... to INFORM. [/edit]

You're going to want to avoid this low-life piece of crap like the plague... even if his harnesses were super cheap and well made. Screw that scamming, thieving, lying piece of trash.

Thanks for the tip.
Have to sniff him out too.
I noticed that all the Etsy stuff evaporated recently and there was a guy (maybe in Florida was it?) who appeared to be selling the stuff having claimed that "hey I just bought this stuff as a lot and didn't know that history..."
Hard to say who he is really, but there is no mistaking what he is selling.

For those of you who are not clear on what is being referenced, read on and know the history and the names.

I can't remember if it were on here or FB, but that guy was Dan Hall and he claimed he just bought the stock, didn't know and sort of apologized. I mean, it's possible, but who knows.

Not hard to say...I'm Dan Hall, I'm real, and known personally and in person to several longstanding members of this community, meaning they know me, have been to my house, played my games, etc. I sell parts on eBay. I never met (Travis/Adam/etc) guy in person. He shipped, I paid. I still have some of the parts, not many now, as I've not bought from him for quite some time, and I don't have the intention to purchase again from anybody unless its for my own use. After collecting for decades, I had the idea that I could build a business selling Arcade parts for a living, and as well as making my own parts, I would resell for others. I bought several large parts orders from him, I also bought lots of small batches from different people, volcano buttons, graphics, pcb's, small parts from other sources, and did make a few parts of my own such as the hand casted Atari Logo Stick (in colors, even), Williams Joystick Spiders, and with the help of some others in the community, custom Tempest optics that were for a tempest spinner that I never did get all the parts for from Travis/Adam. What i was hoping would be a suitable primary self owned business turned out to be nothing more than a sideline. I went back to regular work, and generally gave up. Nonetheless, I will still be selling parts on ebay until I run out, and i will continue to sell my own hobby related items, thats a given. But the list continues to shrink. I had 60 different items up at one time from various vendors (not disagreeing that there were a lot from Travis/Adam), it's now at 11 items and falling. I will never sell or advertise anything "RAM Related" here on Klov, I promised Tombo, and I keep my word.

I'm not a "Crony" of Travis/Adam, I don't even have his address. (He didnt return address his packages, you know) To me, he was a vendor that I used to try an launch a sideline into a business. Didn't work, oh well, life goes on.

But I'll tell you one thing. Nobody here or anywhere has just cause to say that I ripped them off, and I don't have any reason to hide who I am now, do I? If people buy it, they get it. If something happens, they always get their money back. It's a point of personal pride with me.

Dan

For what it's worth, i'm one of those 'real people' that know Dan in the real world and have for over 20 years now. He's real, trustworthy and a personal friend and definitely not in cahoots with Travis (or whatever that turdface calls himself these days).
