Complete, but not working. Unkown what's wrong with it. Guy just says nothing happens when you turn it on. Says the bottom is rotted out so the cab is trashed. What do you think a fair price would be?

I would be curious about the inside condition... complete boards... wiring harness...ect.
Cab swaps can be done with Tempests, as there are enough of them around. A non-working 6100 is pretty valuable ($300-400), plus the rest of the parts.
If you are committed to it, you could spend as much as $400-500 to get it, then invest another ~$500 into restoring it, and you can end up with a $1200-1500 restored Tempest.
It depends on how cheap you can get it for, and how committed you are to restoring it. If you aren't super into it, don't do it, as vectors take commitment to get running properly. But they all can be restored, and they are worth it if you want one bad enough. But I wouldn't recommend looking at it as a quick flip, as it's going to take work. Only get it if you really want to learn about vectors, and do the work required to own and maintain one.
$200, maybe $300 tops. I've seen semi working with decent cabs go for $400.
Agreed. It's a mystery buy, dead cab and no idea what's inside. In cases like this I buy assuming the worse, tube necked, pcb rusted or covered in cat piss, etc. Hope to get lucky from that point but usually don't. $200 doesn't sting to bad if it's total garbage.I'm sticking with $200.
I'd probably go $300 if pressed, but it is harder to swallow at that price point.
All these pumped up valuations don't sit well with me.
You know that a game can't actually part itself out, right?
What you're doing is grabbing a piece of raw material and you're actually ADDING VALUE when you haul it, clean it up, start disassembling it, testing things, listing things, negotiating prices, and God forbid, start shipping parts and pieces.
If it's for parts for your personal use, I can see it.
Thinking you're making good profit after all that effort, good luck.
Say you pay $300-$400 for it, then get all the prices you're talking about. What did you make? $300-$400?
What can you do with that cash? Buy another questionable game? Wash/rinse/repeat?
Jaded, I guess...
