transistor test false reading?

i have three brand new transistors all measuring bad in the same way, when measuring red lead to emitter, black to collector. surely it's not possible that these are ALL bad (two different components supplied by two different suppliers and tested with two different meters mind you). is there something i'm missing or some bit of lore regarding this reading that i'm supposed to know? randy fromm says it should read open. gah.

oh apparently this is a darlington transistor, though everything i am seeing online or in the BBB mentions possible weirdness in the B-E readings, not C-E.
 
Some darlingtons have an internal diode between E & C. Which would give the reading you show.

What is your transistor part #? Should be able to find a datasheet online which would show its internal configuration...
