Hi newbie question since i can't find a straight forward answer. The wiring connecting the monitor chassis to the transformer. What is the orientation for the leads or does it not matter?

For example i have a white and black wire coming from the monitor chassis to the transformer. I temporarily connected it direct since it didn't have any connect ends. The cab kicked on with no issues. But my other cab with the same layout has the black and white wires flipped and it also powers on fine. Wondering if the orientation matter.
