I wonder if phoenixarcade changed how they print the boombox? @darinjacobs It seems like I've noticed a lot of the boomboxes showing light where they shouldn't, and from memory I thought there was an extra layer of silver or something printed to block that. Maybe some modern bulbs are just crazy bright?
Clearly some things have changed over the years because my sideart had premask and I think was individually cut to shape instead of left on a larger sheet. Maybe others reported issues tearing the art when removing the premask like that issue I had, so they dropped the premask.
Don't move it again LOL
Dm me, i have an svg alreadyAny chance you can put the plexi from the boom box on a sheet of paper, trace the outline, and mail it to me?
Oh, and measure it's thickness..![]()
I'd expect that problem on a digital print, because it doesn't that the silver light blocking ink. The screenprinted versions should have a true silver boombox (not grey) and from what I've seen in the past, aren't as susceptible to the bleed problem. My boombox art came from TOG and had the same issue with the light showing the whole cut out area. Try looking for a very low powered LED bulb. Can't remember what I ended up using, but it worked.

I understand it to be screen printed too.
The LED lamp is going to be WAY to bright. OEM spec is 25w incandescent.

That was in reference to the TOG version,Interesting, I don't know why mine has it then? I got it from Phoenix Arcade, and I thought theirs were "screenprinted versions... (with) true silver boombox"?
I had been assuming that it was because the LED that mine had been replace with was just beyond expected spec for the boombox overlay?

There is a 720 restoration thread where they actually masked off an painted the plexi behind it. They were not sure if it was masked from the factory or not.
Can't find the thread right now but these are the pics I pulled:

LOL, that's the kicker isn't itYeah, I saw that thread when doing my homework, but IIRC it was commented that wasn't necessary if using "the right" artwork?
