Hey guys, its funny how games u aren't really looking for fall into your lap. I just met a guy in my town who has a quote on quote "showroom condition" Tempest. And he is a vintage star wars nut, so we are working on a possible trade. I was gonna be trading him my vintage star wars collection of toys, which i value at about $200.00-$250.00 for the tempest. Now even though he claims the tempest is in amazing condition, it does need the monitor fixed, but he claims he has had the boards sent out for professional repair before. And it plays blind. Anyone gimme any insight?

Ive never seen/played/or seen anyone play tempest before. And truthfully know nothing of the game. I was an early 90's arcader.

Ditto.
The monitor shouldn't be hard to fix, most likely common problems.
The value you gave for your collection is worth the complete working boardset alone.

The monitor can take a while to fix because there's so many different things that can go wrong, but once you rebuild it you're set. It also depends of if you like the game and plan on keeping it. Regardless $250 is definitely a steal depending on what the current owner considers showroom condition. I would say go for it, but then again I bought my Tempest many moons ago before the prices dropped as low as they are now.

Toys for an arcade machine is a trade I'd do any day of the week. Arcade machines for the win.

(BTW, I have some old Black Hole movie figures if anyone would like to swap for something.) :D

which i value at about $200.00-$250.00 for the tempest.
Do collectors value them the same? I know some of the vintage Star Wars shit can go for big bucks, especially unopened. But if this represents it's true current market value today, yeah I'd do the deal like the rest of the guys said.

cool thanks everyone for the input. hopefully it is as nice as he says. ill keep ya posted. thanks

I'm late, but 2-300 isn't bad at all for a mostly working, cosmetically nice, complete Tempest. The only thing that could be a hang up is if you have sentimental value invested into the SW stuff.

COOL i have no sentimental value whatsoever for the vintage SW stuff i have, i do have it for the early 90s SW stuff i still have cause thats when i was into that stuff. The vintage SW stuff i just got off ebay like 8 years ago cause i thought they were neat. so should be a nice deal. thanks guys
