Can someone school me on trackballs? I want to build a cabaret with a 60in1 and I plan on using a joystick, 3 buttons and a trackball. How does the trackball hook up? and is it possible to hook it up so that if I switched the pcb to a ameridarts pcb it would still work?

Thanks

as for making it work with an ameridarts, I have no idea.

as far as the 60 in 1 goes, there is a spot on teh board to connect the trackball to.
Some guys run the wires from the player 2 side of the jamma harness to the trackball. I fully prefer either making or buying the trackball to pcb harness ($11 bob roberts) and the trackball hooks right to the 60 in 1 pcb.

you use a trackball interface harness you can get them from bob roberts or make y our own. it plugs right into the board. i buy my trackballs from twisted quarter buy the ones that use a red board.

edit: dylan was faster

Here is the wiring schematic from the standard 6 wire trackball connector:

Black to Ground
Red to +5V
Yellow to 2nd player UP
Green to 2nd player DOWN
Brown to 2nd player LEFT
Blue to 2nd player RIGHT

im a lil late on this thread.....

does anyone know if a 60-1 multi OR a ARCADESHOP board supports a SPINNER for games like arkanoid and super breakout??

also, im going to be buying a blank control panel from arcadeshop that has the joystick/trackball/3 button setup for my mspacman. anyone find a good generic mspac cpo that would look decent for a multi control panel?

your better off just buying a new trackball unit cost wise but yes they should have that red board in them if thats what your asking.

and yes you can use a spinner on the 60-1 not sure about the AS board never ran one. but shit spinners are pricey for new ones.

the red board is in them? So all I would have to buy is the new trackball either 3 or 2 1/4 and the connector, then that should be everything to hook it up to a jamma cabinet

I've got a 3" Happ that I never hooked up. I bought it used and supposedly 100% working but I can't verify that anymore as I don't have any boards that support it. I also have the control panel mount for it. You're welcome to it for the price of shipping.

if you use the arcadeshop control panel (multicade cp for ms pac/galaga style cabs)
it requires a 2 1/4" trackball

oh and yes, that link you had to twisted quarter was the correct harness.

It's faster and cheaper from bob roberts. $11 and like 2-3 days shipping.
always takes 5-6 days out here from twisted quarter. I am in cali though.

Y'all should be aware that there have been problems hooking up trackballs to the "B" version of the 60-in-1's when using the onboard connector. The trackball has power but will not register. Hooking it up to the Player 2 wiring works just fine, though.

I have had this problem, and I've seen a few others on here who've had similar problems - even with new trackballs with red boards.

I've had no problems using the onboard connector when using "A" version boards...
