Track & Field/Hypersports Restoration

Well, this is probably going to go over like a lead balloon, but in summary I ran into a few problems with it and Joe didn't make it right. It wasn't the first time I ran into a problem with one of his products, but I vowed to make it my last so in turn I don't support him any more. And no, it wasn't due to a lack of skillset in installation, although it was definitely the most involved of any of his kits.

If anyone wants gory details, they can PM me. I don't want to hijack this resto thread.
Understood! Thanks.

Hijack away. I would like to know. 😁

I thought about selling my T$F board and buying the kit to install in my Hypersports. I watched a video on YT of the whole game as well. And even though it is a cool game. I prefer the originals and plan to just get the switcher. I just want to know how long the ribbon cable is. ☹️

I had T&F/Hypersports before moving over to the Rearranged kit. Riddled.tv, his ribbon cables are 36" (Here's an example of mounting in my Pleiads cabinet w/ 3 PCBs):

Why do you have to whore out your Pleaides/Phoenix/Eagle cab EVERY DAMN TIME?!

So jealous :D

So, a little bit of an update. Got my side art and marquee in the mail from Escape Pod. And my son happen to stop by this weekend and helped with installing the side art. First time applying side art. I think it turned out quite well. Still need to find a bezel. The couple of people that were making them, I can't get a response back on if they still make them.

I have the PDF for printing your own bezel template on my TnF restoration thread.

Working on wiring up the cabinet. Anyone have an idea of where these ground wires go? There are three of them on the AC harness. I want to say they go to the pcb cage, but since I don't have one do they still need to be hooked to anything. And then you have these two mesh grounding wires that I have no clue as to where they go.

Braid on mine was attached to the feet and isolation transformer bolts

Ah ok. The braided ones were just bunched up inside the cabinet and not hooked to anything. I'll hook one up to the transformer.

Any idea on the three green ground wires on the main AC harness? Like I said, I think they go to the cage which I don't have. Maybe one goes to the monitor frame as well.

If memory serves, the following needs to be grounded…

  • Fluorescent light fixture
  • both speakers
  • coin door
  • control panel
  • monitor
  • metal fuse panel
  • isolation transformer frame
  • switching power supply

Ok. So I'm in the process of putting the control together. I know how the hinge mounts to the cabinet. I'm just not sure how it mounts to the control panel. Does it go on the outside over top on the overlay or on the inside of the control panel?

Well, it only took two years to finally complete this thing. 4 months of it was getting the custom CPO made for it. I know it's nothing flashy, but I sort of wanted it kinda simple and I always liked the image of the runners on the front. Only thing left is to clean the contacts on the buttons since the jump doesn't want to register every time. But other than that, I think she didn't turn out too bad.
