My track and field went dead. help!!!!!!!!!!

When you turn it on now, all you get is a screen full of white N's.

Power switcher seems to be ok, and set to 5.0 volts.

Prior to this problem, It played fine, but would black out after it was on for about 10-15 minutes of play.

Anybody have any ideas?

Or does anybody have a HYPER SPORTS PCB fs?

thanks

I now have this board as a spare. Any idea what is causing this?

This is a classic example of low voltage, though that is not a difinitive diagnosis. Verify that 5.0 Volts is coming to the board by measuring at the board's edge connector and not at the power supply output. Beyond that, verify that the CPU ROMs are fully seated (i.e. the CPU can read its program stored in ROM). Also, verify that you have a KONAMI-1 CPU installed (on the video board) and not some other CPU or Konami chip, and that it is not installed backward in the socket. Beyond that, get an oscilloscope and verify that the HALT, INT, and NMI pins on the KONAMI-1 CPU are HIGH and not LOW. If you see one stuck LOW, then your CPU could be bad. Swap in another Konami-1 cpu if you have one to see if it makes a difference in this case. Beyond that, sell me the board real cheap -- I'm sure I can fix it and make a profit.
