Toys 'n Joys - Anime and Video Game Mega Store - Honolulu, HI
I just got back from vacationing in Oahu. We stayed in Waikiki and spent the whole week just relaxing and enjoying the island.
I found a really cool import video games and toy store while driving around Honolulu: Toys 'n Joys. Their website is terrible and they got bad reviews on Yelp!, but aside from those things, this store is plain awesome and massive.
You walk in an it's just sensory overload. Glass cases and aisles of anime and video game plush dolls, models, toys, collectibles, etc. The whole left wall is lined with cases of consoles, games and peripherals from retro to current (Japanese and US region games). Their back wall is lined with airsoft bb guns, rifles and knives.
I went at closing time, so I didn't get a chance to see everything, but I was able to shoot some photos and grab a few goodies on my way out. Prices were hit or miss, but I found a Super Game Boy for SFC for $5, Mario Picross 2 (JPN only) for $5, Castlevania Adventure for $3 and Final Fantasy Adventure for $5. I also found an unlabeled SNES to SFC cart adapter that the guy said I could have for $1. Score!
Do any of you have places like this you go to in your area? Unfortunately, all of the game exchanges I know of in the SF Bay Area have closed down and the ones that are still around are lame and overpriced. Thanks GameStop! I don't have any store to go to like this around here.
