I've been buying and flipping games in order to build a small collection of what I want to keep. As of right now I'm a little bit in the hole, and I own a Donkey Kong, a Tapper, and a High Speed pin that is in the middle of being shopped by a friend (traded him the Black Knight that was kind of rough for a thorough shopping, board work, and LED installation).

DK was on my relatively short (to other users) shopping list. High Speed was not but I know I wanted two pinball machines and four arcade games. Tapper was not on any list, I bought it with the intention to sell it, but it was so nice and a lot of people told me that if I sell it I'll never, ever get another one as nice for what I paid.

So I'm finding myself reluctant to sell it on collector's principle, but interested so I can continue flipping machines and collecting the ones I set out to get! It's a tough call. Does anyone have any advice for me based on experience?

If you just want to dig out of the hole then sell your most common machine, which is Donkey Kong. There are more of those still around than they even made of most games in the first place. You will find another one.

Of course if you aren't hurting for the money then there is no reason to sell anything until you are full.

it sounds like keep the one you wanted to collect (DK) and choose one of the other two to flip and make some cash to keep collecting.

to me all three are good keepers and i might look at making another small investment and buy some cheap games to flip and trade.

Games come and go (thats half the fun) If you are not into Tapper, I would sell it and prob buy two lesser games, fix them up sell one keep one, repeat untill your friends are sick of helping you move games:)

If you sell the tapper for say $1k and you decide to buy one back for $1k, then what difference does it make? Play it a bunch before you sell it. Then you will know if you can live without it.

I think you already made up your mind. Get rid of the games that is not on your list for the ones you really want.

Thanks guys! Some solid advice here. Maybe I will just flip my Tapper. It's in great shape, so it shouldn't be a hard sell. DK was at the top of my list of four games I wanted, and High Speed just looks like so much fun. Maybe after it's done being shopped I'll hate it, but I don't think that's going to happen.

that would not be a bad choice. pin prices will likely keep climbing for a while yet so chances are High Speed will gain more value where Tapper likely won't. also, i'll agree HS is more fun.
