I just picked up a touchmaster infinity. With the hard drive plugged in the game doesn't boot at all,no bios or anything. With it unplugged i get the bios boot screen, so i plugged in another 20gb drive i have and it still gets to the bios with no os..I figure if i could get my hands on the image for this drive i could slap it on there and be good to go.
Anybody have an image or a disk to get this pig up and running.I was told it is playboy edition, but whatever will run on it is fine, the hard drive has a sticker that says infinity 2.20.
Thanks all

Oh yea,i was reading in the manual about a security key,but see no picture of it so i don't know if i have one or not.i was looking because it says the key and software must match.

The key looks likes a bios battery with a black handle on it. its on the top board

Hmmmmmm, I don't see a round thing with a handle on it..That could very well be my problem..here are a few pics of where i think something like that may go.Inside the redish squares.

The Infinity doesn't use that style security key.
It is a little board off to the side connected by a small ribbon cable.

If it won't boot at all with the original drive plugged in, then I would initially think the drive is bad.
Does the original drive spin up at all ?
Does the other drive spin up ?

I might try to get an image of my drive (need one anyways), but those systems run FREEBSD as an operating system. So your regular WinXP or whatever is not going to "see" the drive to make a quick/simple dump or copy image of it.

I'll give it a shot sometime and see what I can figure out.

Thanks,
The original drive wouldn't spin up in the machine and my other random drive would spin and allow it to try to boot..
I took a shot in the dark and put it in my computer and windows can see it and it spins up.I used chdman.exe to image the drive which if i read correctly as long as your computer can see the drive in disk management then this utility will image whatever format is on there.
I used chdman again to put the image on a good drive with no luck but at least it boots to the no os or boot device screen.
I'm sure a good image or new drive with the software will fix it.Is that little security board software specific,i don't see it marked as such.
Thanks for your time.

I'm kinda playing with trying to do an image now, but not going to spend a whole lot of time on it....seems like it's going to be a pain.

I don't know for sure what kind of "security" feature it has if any really.
Hadn't really looked to see if any of the chips on there hold any sort of "data".

I do appreciate the effort. I used chdman and the process was pretty straight forward..I just needed to go into drive management and get the drive number and then use this command line.
chdman -createhd \\.\physicaldrive1 infinityhd.chd
And it made an image called infinityhd.chd from whatever was on drive 1.Substitute 1 with whatever number your computer assigns the drive.
Unfortunately it didn't go so well as i was doing it to a crap drive lol.
If you don't get it i am sure i'll stumble onto one eventually.I am surprised that as many of these that are out there that there are not images online somewhere.
Again,i thank you for your time.

I have a working .chd image its 1.61 gigs i just cloned my touchtmaster its drive was failing it works fine with a new 2 gig drive.

That is great. Just 2gigs,,may be fun to toss that on a compact flash and try that route.
Thanks for doing this.

My drive is failing too. My machine freezes, locks up and I can hear the hard disc whining. Any way I could get this image from you as well? Lemme know if it's possible and what you'd need in return.

I am uploading the image to my drop box as we speak pm me your email and ill send you the link. download it within a week or it expires.

As far as I have seen none really if you don't have the key hooked up it will only works in free play. Also I cloned mine and it works fine on the new drive all though I did match the size of the drive 2 gig

That's exactly what I wanted to try at some point too.

Does yours "buzz" through the audio also ?

Mine won't play at all without it, pops up and tells you to check that it is plugged in.

My working drive is a 40GB, but I knew the image was actually much smaller.
Wonder if the partition is smaller on it or something.

What "software" and OS did you use to do the cloning ?

Yes it buzzes through audio but not that bad. I used windows 7 with a usb to ide adapter. I used Chdman.exe for the cloning process i followed the directions here http://www.thekillerinstinctproject.com/kiproject/chdman.html

Worked like a charm

nope in fact I had to pull the partition on it before chd would write to the drive. It had a fat and would not work I had to delete all partitions and leave it that way

I just encountered the same thing,it would give an error on hunk 7. I came here to see what version you used , chdman , chdman32 or chdman64 and looks like we both went with chdman.Went into drive management and deleted the volume and it is writing away right now. This is pretty cool,i am using a 4gb drive and after failing on hunk 7 , windows reported the drive as 24 mb.So what i think is cool is whatever size drive you use it will appear to be the size of the image when it is done.Instead of 2gb with 2gb free it will appear to be a 2gb drive.

If I send you a drive, would you be able to clone me one? I have no idea how to go about cloning a drive at this point. Mine is getting worse. I used to be able to play it for an hour or more before it locked up, now I get about 5 minutes out of it or it won't boot at all, giving an error message telling me it can't find the security key and I should contact Midway support. The whole time the drive whines and whirrs louder and louder.
