Does anyone know a good touch screen monitor repair guy? I have a few touch screens that needs work.

One of two things goes bad on touchscreens....

1. The overlay itself
2. The microcontroller

Other factors that cause problems is not having the right software drivers for the controller your screens use.

What's the issue with the ones you have ?
What application are you trying them with ?

I'm sure it's a hardware problem and not a software problem since we have extra screens to use to swap them out. The screens are used in a japanese photosticker machine. Basically a person takes a picture then, has the option to draw on the picture using the touchscreen and pen.

Is the overlay the glass part with a band wire going around it?

So are these absolutely identical screens that you are swapping out?
I only ask because if they are not, then they may have different microcontrollers, i.e need different drivers.

If I understand your description correctly, then yes. It's the thin glass sheet that literally sits over top the actual monitor screen. Think of it as a second layer of glass, the part you actually "touch".

Do you have any makes/models or part numbers on the screens you are testing ?

Yes it's the same exact model, our photo machines has 2 drawing parts, one on each side of the machine that has the same touch screen monitor.

I don't have the model number, but it';s the actual screen that's something wrong, the thin glass sheet should be working, it's the screen that's blacked out and shows lines.

So the problem is with the monitor and not the touchscreen overlay? Do you know what monitor chassis you have? A pic of the chassis (the large circuit board on the back of the monitor frame) should help identify the chassis.

Agreed with Oryk, that sounds more like a "monitor" issue and not necessarily a "touchscreen" issue.
Think of them as two separate things.

So you can "touch" things properly, but the image is on screen is wrong ?

Yes I have a few that have a problem with just the monitor itself and maybe one that has the touchscreen panel issue. The Monitor is Phillips/LG LCD LM170E01 (A6) (K2) barcode number is 17055KM613792F11.

Yes I understand the difference now, I took part the piece and there is in fact a glass piece (touch part) and the LCD.

I have a little bit of experience with LCDs, usually it is the internal power supply that craps out. Depending on where you are located it might be cheaper to find a new LCD than to have it fixed. I am sending you a pm.
