Hey guys...I've only been nosing around here for a couple of days and I'm already hooked. I've always loved the old arcade games, pinball machines, slots and pretty much any other coin-op related stuff. I've never owned anything myself, though.

I'll soon be the owner of two stand up games: A PlayChoice 10 and a P.O.W. machine.

They are both in really rough shape, but they do work. I've done enough research to know that the games in the PC10 are worth far more than I'm paying for the pair, so I feel pretty good about the deal.

Honestly, I have no idea what these machines are worth in their present condition...The attached pic gives you a good idea of how rough they are. It's not a good shot, but it's all I have until these are dropped off at my shop...I'd appreciate any help.

I look forward to getting to know some of you! I think I'm gonna like this place.

Todd

Nice start. I would probably suggest changing out the joysticks on those POWs for a pair of Happ supers (as the model you have on their isn't that great and they aged poorly), get some new happ buttons as well, as they are only $1.25 each and the ones you have look worn out.

The value of a PC 10 is almost 100 percent based on the carts inside, the condition barely comes into play.

That Pow would have a range of $100-$300ish depending on condition, I can't tell enough from the photo, although it looks like it would tend more towards the $100 than the $300.

You will also probably have 3 monitors to do cap kits on (almost certainly at least one because the top playchoice monitor is often neglected).

Don't make the mistake of sinking a lot of money into the POW. Fix it up mechanically and electrically but I wouldn't bother trying to buy new art bits for it.

Thanks for the tips! Here's the deal...A buddy offered me both machines for 100 bucks, so I jumped on it...I'd like to sell the P.O.W. game, as I really have no interest in it...I'd really like to fix up the PC10, because I just turned 32 and I'm feeling really nostalgic for the old Nintendo stuff lol...I've never restored anything before, though. (I'm in the sign business.) So we'll see what happens...By the way, I know it comes with Super Mario Bros 1 and 3, along with Punch Out...Not sure on the others yet.

Good prices definitely. I would hold the POW at the moment as you might be sad later that you sent it packing. You ought to be able to plug the circuit boards to some other titles into that machine.

Neither one of them seems beat down enough to really warrant a full restore (takes the same effort and money to restore a 2 as it does a 6 and you have a couple of 6s there).

Also, Playchoice 10 stuff is likely near peak pricing, I have a serious feeling that Playchoice stuff is going to decline in the future. Right now Playchoice stuff is going high because the Nes generation now has MONEY and nes collecting is at a peak (which Playchoice crosses over with).

Playchoice machines are a top tier machine now and they didn't used to be. They barely got any mention when I started collecting games in 2000. So where was I going with that? I guess, go slow, don't pay $200 for a single playchoice rom board, because it is quite likely that those rom boards will be cheaper in the future.

I can already tell I'll have a lot to learn lol...I'll have these machines within the next week, hopefully. I haven't seen them in person yet...Once I have them in my shop, I'll be badgering yall with plenty of questions.

I was thinking I would sell the P.OW. and put that money towards fixing up the PC10, but I may end up holding on to both of them...I had no idea I could use the P.O.W. machine to play other games...Like I said, I'm totally new to this and not ashamed to admit I'm clueless!

Voices, you can now see I'm a Mississippi boy.
