I have a Sega Top Skater With a Toshiba P503SGA Projection monitor that died. When powering up, the monitor will power up for about 5 seconds(can see necks start to glow), than shut down(HV shut down?). Any body have an idea what to check/replace? Anybody know where I could get a manual/schematics for this monitor?
Thanks for any info.

Good luck finding a manual for the monitor... you can get the manual for Top Skater, but it's not much help for anything but adjusting the monitor:
http://www.sauservice.com/manuals/Top Skater/TopSkatermain.html

But I'd troubleshoot it like a regular monitor... check the HOT, solder joints, etc. Unfortunately it's not very easy to get the boards in and out. Do you have a pic of the chassis? I had a Top Skater monitor that had a convergence problem (and lots of burn-in), so when I came across another working compatible monitor, I swapped it, pulled the boards from the old monitor, and hacked up the rest. I still have the boards, but I dunno whether they're the same.

I also had a RP from a Waverunner that had a large resistor that went open on the convergence board, which caused the monitor to go into shutdown after a couple seconds.

Thanks for the info. I moved it last night and than plugged it in to do a little trouble shooting and the monitor came up nice and clear for about 2 minutes before it died again. I will pull the boards and check for bad solder joints and also look over resistors. I will repost with my findings.
Thanks again

For what it's worth, ive seen this a lot in TVs where the focus block goes bad (its the block that distributes the HV to the 3 tubes). Chances are that chassis is used in a TV so if you do some research you'll prob find it.

Also the convergence chips are prone to going bad, but if it came back to life after moving it maybe you have a bad connection or a cold solder point somewhere?

i hope to god you have an easily fixed solder issue.

I had a starwars( same toshiba monitor) that would not power on at all

i ironically bought a top skater monitor with entire front end for parts, gutted it and put all the parts into my sw..

so i do have spare "guts" for a toshiba hoever like i said it did not power on (fuses good) so i do not know whats good or bad.
