i managed to get a torch pinball for 90 bucks...yes 90 bucks? i took the mpu board out and the batteries had leaked and messed up the board...some corrosin. i am thinking if i just replace the board it might work...here's the problem it comes on but will not test and shows ball in play and lights up...thats all it will do besides make some noise now and then...i did the ground mods but with the board being that bad i think i am lucky to get that...whats your advise..

i clean the board the best i could but there is still corrosin around some chips.....

As bad as those tended to leak and damage the board, pretty much all bets are off until you get that board fixed or replaced. Cleaning off the corrosion generally isn't enough, the damage left behind (open traces, poor connections in sockets, shorted legs on components) is where the real problems lie.

Before dumping money into a replacement board, I'd go ahead and check out/test the power supply. Read this: http://www.pinrepair.com/sys1/index.htm
It's everything you need to know to go over the power supply. Once the supply has been verified or repaired, it's time to tackle that MPU board. But honestly, it's usually better to use one of the newer replacement boards than attempt to fix a damaged original.

Since there was battery damage, I'd also expect there to be corrosion on the edge connectors. It's a good idea to plan on replacing the terminals in the edge connectors. At the very least, replace the terminals in the power connector and toss a new MPU to Driver board harness in it with.
