Today I picked another CL FREE machine. I have no idea what this game is.. But instead of it going to the DUMP.. I picked it up..

It looks to be missing a board, besides that.. not in back shape for being inspected in 1976.

If anyone in the St. Louis, MO area, that has some working knowledge of this unit, I would appericate the help.. :)

Jeff

More research.. wiring schematics, repo artwork, learn more about EM machines..

I just picked up a Midway Space Gun a few weeks ago. I can't wait to dig into it either!

I was able to find the missing board, thats a start. Ill have to fix the board, but its SO OLD its very easy to work on.. LOL And repair a bad fuse holder, new power cord..

Then I will plug it in.. and wait for the smoke.. :)

Received the board today, repaired the fuse holder, added power plug...

Plugged in.. tripped the Credit Relay, tripped Start Game relay.. BAMB!!!! It started to working!!!

Scores resets, timer counts down.. Can shoot targets...

Next look at the hologram wheel and see if I can get that going..

Bravo!!!

I have a friend locally who joneses for these EM gun games. He would say you are doing god's work!

Well now its the harder part... Finding the HoloGram Motor Assembly & Gear.. I wish I knew someone that had one.. I would duplicate some parts from it.. :(

Making left target

The game was missing the left target cowboy, so I decided to make a new one.

I removed the right cowboy and scanned him. Used image editor to flip it, and remove all the color from it.

I looked around for some UV paint or ink, and used Sharpie Neon markers. With the colors from the left cowboy, from images online.

It looks much sharper in person, but not the same as the old target.

So I will remove all the old targets and remake them with the new neon colors. I think it will tie the machine together.

Prototype back-glass

Went down to the dollar store picked up some foam-board, and started to create the back-glass.

Found an image of the machine from the front, did some editing of the perspective of the image. I did not work on any other editing of the image. I will later once I get the size/scale correct.

Printed out a 4-page poster of the image, trimmed the print lines.. and just used pins to hold the paper up.

I use a inkjet & stock paper so it look washed out. But this is just a proof of concept.

Considering you had nothing to begin with I think thats pretty commendable.

Wow, something I never would have thought of! I posted this in another EM game thread and I'll repeat it here... Check with http://bgresto.com/ on a repro backglass. I'm not sure they have done a Top Gun before though. But everywhere I've seen them mentioned, it's all been good things.

I did not see Top Gun on their list.. but sent them an email to see..
