What does everyone here have for a toolbox when visiting a location to look at a broken game. I am not talking full blown repairs on the road, but basics such as fuses, wire strippers, notebook, screwdrivers, spare switcher, etc..

i have one toolbox (medium sized), that is so disorganized, it is making me think about what i need to pack without having to rifle through the whole toolbox for one little thing.

i was thinking about a second toolbox and keeping tools in one, and parts in another.

i don't usually take tools with me for games. with pins or pin purchases i will, usually throw them in the case for my makita drill along with the drill, for stuff like taking heads off, etc.

Extension Cord
Multimeter
Strippers
Splices
Solder/iron
ViceGrips
Wire
Spare board.

I just throw all the shit into a cardboard box. Tool Boxes are for tools.

I bought a nice plastic toolbox at Harbor Friefgt sidewalk sale several years ago. It has top lid for little compartments like molex connectors and pins. Middle has a lazy susan good for fuses, fork, and spade connectors. Top half comes off if need that is like any normal craftsman handle toolbox, while the bottom is like a big tub I use for my wire looms.

From a customer perspective, i wouldnt want someone to work on my game/machine/appliance who comes in with a box of 'shit'. I would hope there would be a more professional and organized person.

Ohh, I thought that you were talking as if you were buying.... Or helping somebody.

assortment of fuses
a couple lengths of wire maybe 5' each or a small spool of wire
crimp on quick disconnects (male ans female)
twist lock wire nuts
shrink tube
heat gun
flash light
power strip
extension cord
soldering iron
solder
wick
flux
wire strippers
standard pliers
needle nose pliers
10 in 1 screw driver
socket set
cordless drill
screws (mostly short but assorted lengths)
switching PS
line filter
fuse block
various molex crimps and connectors
crimp tool
small jeweler set screw drivers
multi meter (actually I bring 2. my analog and digital)
alligator clip extension wires
small working jamma board to test with
security bit set
quarter... in case I need to test a mech or have one that has a recessed switch that is hard to move with just your finger

That's all I can think of off top of my head. I guess I should note that it would take a larger tool box to carry all this so technically I don't keep this in a tool box but, these are the tool I bring when I go to someone's place to trouble shoot a game.

My toolbox usually contains:
- screwdriver with interchangeable tips (including a socket tip)
- socket set
- pliers (needlenose as well as regular)
- box cutters
- assortment of lock sets (with keys)
- vise grips
- hammer
- pry bar
- hack saw
- WD-40 & light machine oil
- fuses
- multi-meter
- assortment of connectors and crimping tools
- 0.156 & 0.93 pin removal tool

yeah. that's kinda the way i got it as well. obviously if i were going somewhere needing to look professional i would probably grab a tool box or whatever, but if i'm going to help someone i know i'll just grab what i need. at that point it doesn't really matter what you carry the tools in, as long as you know how to use them..
