Too many sellers saying friends and family only

I will use f&f for trusted members aka long long standing members. But if I've never dealt i will request ask g&s add fees blah. Also im done endorsing or vouching for people, ive found most of them to be assholes.

Your answer makes sense, but FUCK THE IRS. Once used items get bought and sold, taxes have already been paid. Double/Triple/Quadruple (ad nauseum) taxes is absofuckinglutely ridiculous, and I won't have it.

Nearly 100% of my hobby transactions are now local, most in-cash. But a growing segment of my transactions are barter and trade transactions too. I pay enough taxes as it is.

I hear you, and I pass no judgment. The only thing I don't like about the F&F thing is that I have to actively participate in the seller's avoidance ("pay me as this is a gift even though we both know it's not"). I have zero issues handing cash to somebody and leaving it up to them to do what they will. I have zero issues sending a check. Heck, if I need a part bad enough and I trust the seller I'll bite my lip and pay by F&F. I would rather pay the fees and their expected income taxes and do it as a regular transaction, but when it comes down to it I'm not going to turn the transaction into a huge hassle over it.

Frizz also makes a really good point about purchasers misusing the system to wrongfully reverse payment. I think that's a far better reason than avoiding taxes (especially since the IRS rule is not even a real thing yet).

[Edit] removed removed quote.

The rule is just there to help prevent someone from getting ripped off, nothing more.

Hmm.. interesting sidenote... I wonder what the US bible belt would think about this thread... It contains talk of Jesus, Tax collectors and Thieves....

So what rule is there to help prevent a good seller from getting ripped off?

That happens, you know.

I'm going to do what I'm going to do. I've read the rule (first time actually) and the way it's worded, it makes it seem like even what I do (not advertise F&F but require a guaranteed form of payment from a newb) is "against the rules". Can you please clarify... are the rule intended for "advertisement purposes" or if I tell some new guy with no feedback that I'm gunna need a check (and it clear), zelle, or F&F and he gets pissed and "reports" me, am I gunna get spanked?

Take it up with the site owner man. This is above my pay grade.

we might be overanalyzing a lot of pointless details here
read the spirit in which the rule was made, and if one's persuaded, work outside of it to achieve the same intended goal, but without drawing KLOV itself in the equation. there are several ways this can be accomplished, no fancy lawyerin' or nothin' required

also, it's not stealing to deny thieves on a payroll the opportunity to legally rob you
love you all, be safe

anyone having reservations about dealing with someone - regardless of payment details - don't deal with them. simple as
Don't be bringing common sense in here. We have rules to follow.

But seriously, all rules need to be revisited eventually. This was created many years ago and was meant to protect newb buyers from being taken advantage. It is well intentioned but could be revised to say
anyone having reservations about dealing with someone - regardless of payment details - don't deal with them.

I was just told to edit my sale posts or they would deleted
I told them to delete them and I will sell my boards elsewhere

Being in Canada friends and family is just so much easier and I have had PayPal convert the USD to CAD on me with G&S
I have sold enough here to be trusted I think
If a user really had an issue with it I would do G&S but I have had no argument

Oh well… life goes on
I have bought boards from you before, F&F and would do so again without hesitation. Great seller.

I always tell the buyer friends and family preferred or please add the 3% for goods and services or business accounts, no one is forcing anyone to pay that way, if the seller wants f&f only you really don't have to buy the part, grant it there is some great deals and needed parts here on the forums

In this thread:

People openly admitting to tax evasion. Haha

Seriously though.
If you say F&F only, I will cover your fees no problem. Its for my protection unless I know you. Taxes on your income are your problem. Get a LLC if youre making too much.

How about a buyer says... i will do F&F no problem. Send me the shit first and when i get it, i will pay you.
Seems a little one sided, huh. 🤔

Too many scammers out there theae days to just be raw dogging transactions unless youre trusted and known in the community.

Try Zelle, or Veno, or something.

^^^^^^
THIS

Taxes are paid when something is purchased new. Look how many times people pay sales tax on a car, every time it changes hands. Ridiculous this is considered acceptable.
I only take members of the 1966 Toronto Maple Leafs.
Please rephrase this good sir.

If you sold the item via G&S, the buyer needs justification to try and dispute your sale, and in the end it's pretty easy to send PayPal pics of the item you sold and how you packaged it. I've had to do this maybe 2-3 times over the years I've sold via eBay/PayPal, and as the seller I've won every time.

In this thread: People openly admitting to tax evasion. Haha
Exactly, it's the only argument people have here against G&S.

It has nothing to do with Tax Evasion. With what I spend on parts, time and materials, etc, I could easily itemize the overhead and wash any tax liability. The issue for me is that is a ton of work. Keeping track of every purchase, insisting I get receipts from cash sales, etc.

This is a hobby with the goal it brings some happiness. Running it like a business is not something I plan on doing.

If you aren't happy with my terms, them move along; keep scrolling. I absolutely comply with the 'Rules' on this Forum, but also reserve the right to choose who I do business with as a seller/service provider.

I know a lot of sellers follow these types of threads and add names to their list of people they never want to work with..(this one is a gold mine!)

I respect your position, but there is some contradicts in what you are saying.

First you say it's a hobby for happiness. You've said in the past it's to help the community. And you have also said "but also reserve the right to choose who I do business with as a seller/service provider.".

I have my perspectives on things, and to each their own... But I gotta ask which is it? A favor for people to help out the hobby or a business like you just mentioned?

Ironically it's stuff like this is the reason I come here just for fun banter.
