Tommy Pinball: dot matrix display problems & value...

Hi all,

Preface: I know next to nothing about pinball machines.

But, here goes: trying to get a value on a Tommy pinball. I'm attaching three pictures, which don't tell you all that much about condition. I will say that, cosmetically, it looks very good, with a clean playfield. It also plays well, with working multiball, sound, and such. I'm sure there are a few things that need tweaking, but overall condition is good.

Per the pictures of the display: there's a "black" horizontal line through it. You can also see on the Data East logo that a vertial line at far right is also not displaying. Any ideas what causes this, and what the solution may be? What do these machines generally go for?

Thx for any info. :)

The display issue is probably a broken lead on the DMD. Sometimes those can be repaired but that's maybe just a 50/50 shot of it lasting. You can get a new one for about $130 and they are very easy to replace. As far as value, they usually go for $1700 in good condition. I always figure about $200 in misc parts for a through shop, plus 200 for the dmd and labor. If it is in good shape I'd say it's worth 12-1400 since it needs some work.
