I purchased a TOKI game...Anyone know anything about it? I am trying to get a couple cheap games to play. I am new to the arcade scene so very very newbie here...But would like to know more. The guy I bought it from told me I could buy some kind of board and get more games to play in this cabinet. Anyone got the patience for a newbie I would appreciate it...Thx.

I've always liked toki. It's basically a horizontal platform game. I'm guessing what the guy told you was that toki is a jamma game. Jamma is a standardized pin out for arcade pc boards that the Japanese implemented in the mid 80's. The idea behind it was that you could simply unplug one board from the wiring and plug another in it's place and it would work. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule. Basically another pc board that has the jamma pin out and is horizontally oriented can be swapped into your cab and should be playable. The only possible issue is if you swap in a game that uses more buttons than your machine has. In that case you would need to add more buttons to make that board fully playable. For what it's worth you can also swap a vertically oriented jamma game in your cab as well. It will work but since your monitor is mounted horizontally the game will be sideways and won't likely be fun to play.

Toki is a fav of mine, but arguably one of the most ruthless games I've ever played. I'd love to own a nice cabinet of it one day, but just have the board right now, and some NOS sideart that came with the PCB.

all good information. Im making my upstairs a game room... I can feel the love here already. I feel this is gonna be the most helpful site for a newbie....Thx guys....Any idea what the Toki game is worth? It is well used but very playable....Cabinet has sides with some places bad...but front of it looks Ok. I wonder what it is worth? After I get an Idea what it is worth I will write what I gave for it......Don't think I got a bad deal if it is not a junk game noone wants. Ok OK I will go ahead and say I gave $125 for it....Be honest...Is it worth more or less or close to that average price. Thx guys.

Well, any working cab for $125 is good. As long as the cab is solid and the monitor is nice. I don't think Toki is a sought-after game but a shot in the dark would be somewhere around $40 for the pcb. The real value to you is that you have a working JAMMA cab with a working monitor that you can put any JAMMA pcb in it (that fits the button layout)! The cab is probably a generic Dynamo cab and, if you're unhappy with the condition of your current cab, you can always find a cheap (or even free) empty cab and transfer all the parts to it.
