Todd Tuckey - TNT amusements Should Be Banned

You've never trashed a cab???

Not senselessly like that. I parted out some of the rotting water-logged games from a barn find ( you can see them on my blog) but it was after I stripped off whatever I could possibly save from them. These were games that were exposed to the weather for 15+ years and yet still had parts on them that were good. Sounds to me from the reactions of people on here that there was at least some useful parts on those games and maybe even a good cabinet or two.

Why wouldn't Todd have the same opinion about the games he trashed? I'm not arguing with you, just sayin'. Him making those commercials / videos with the intent of sticking it into the craw of KLOV'ers just seems a bit unrealistic to me, and out of character for him. Think what you want of tossing 'perfectly good' parts over the side of a building, but I seriously doubt Todd did it to get anyone's goat.

they were not senselessly destroyed, they were used for advertising. obviously they were worth more to todd as fodder for a commercial then they were as actual machines. he has been in business for a long time, if he thinks it is the right thing to do then it is his right to do it.

greg does us a favor by letting us post about our fairly silly hobby here. he has created the best place for us to post about our haves/wants, our repair questions/answers, our latest pickups, or just our stupid thoughts on the world. if you don't like it go post on another board that gets 5% of the traffic of this site.

it may be a sad fact, but not all the machines can be saved. it sux, but even hawkeye pierce only saved 97%.

adios amigos !!!!"

I think we have a new record!!!! RAGE QUIT!!!!

He won't be banned. What a lot of people here don't realize is that this place is all about statistics, not preserving games. All that matters here is page hits, number of games listed on VAPS in peoples membership portfolios, thread counts, etc.

There are some of us that have deleted all the games from our Vaps accounts under protest. If you really want to make a statement that is probably the best way to do it and get Greg's attention.

This is not sarcasm, this is a fact. A thread like Todds is good for the site in the eyes of Greg. It creates lots of page hits and posts.

Sad but true...

Edit: If you really want to make a statement, delete all the games in your VAPS account and then PM Greg and let him know why.

My VAPS account was deleted automatically way back when the audits were not working right. I don't know if that was fixed but I did create another account not that long ago, but I'm too lazy to catalog my stuff all over again.

BTW. I'm parting out Rally-X and Arkanoid cocktails before I throw them off my roof. :D

I love collecting and preserving these games, but just like collecting cars, motorcycles guns etc whatever it is, some must die in order to save others and thats just how it is.

(Opera house style applause) That sentence brought a tear to my eye.

Some games in fact did meet their doom, but I imagine if Todd saw any value worth restoring, he would've kept them to fix being a business man and all. The fact is Todd was the only one who knew the condition of the cabinets because he was there in person, a good business man would not throw away potential profit. What you saw as salvageable, Todd may have seen as a hoarder's piece of garbage, no value.

BTW, because of Todd's donor games, I was able to SAVE and PRESERVE a few of my games from the GRAVE. He may have lost one, but someone else may have gained 2 because of him.

..and in the grand scheme of things, real world, etc.. who would really give a rat's ass if anyone deleted the games in their VAPS account?

I've been collecting for 11yrs and just bothered to update mine, cuz I was bored. In the past, you'd update it, and it would get hosed every so often, so I didn't bother to mess it again, for years. If my info gets wiped anytime soon, I couldn't care less about that list.

Those were his machines and in whatever condittion they were in he is allowed to with them whatever the fcuk he want's to with them.

I couldn't care less

true, and we are entitled to judge those actions as we see fit since this is a hobby/lifestyle that we are all passionate about.

I would not ban the guy, but I think that video is absolutely despicable and definitely makes me think twice about buying anything from TNT. Besides their prices aren't great, and if you just throw stuff out like this it does essentially raise what you sell everything else for. That video is reprehensible and horrible- if you are in the arcade business and you make that- who are you actually catering to- who does something like that attract? Definitely not other game collectors that buy your parts.

I don't see the big deal. Some are getting all emotional and appalled, like he took a backhoe into a family cemetery and exhumed bodies for the gold fillings.

It was done for advertising, which drives interest in people buying these machines, that every year, fewer people care about. He knows very well what's rare, what's worth what, etc..and I don't think he'd trash something valuable or not take the desirable spare parts off of a crappy cabinet. If a raster tube got broken in the Tempest cabinet that was probably junk, who care?

Take your own advice. If you don't like what I am posting, maybe you should leave.

Yeah I already sent a pm to him to delete my account , I didn't say why .

I don't care if he knows , it doesn't matter , I'm not trying to make a statement , I'm not even pissed off at all about any of this stuff .

I just came to a realization that I don't share the views of 95% of people here , so why am I here .

If I log on to a forum Saturday morning that I thought was about preserveing arcade games , and theres videos about throwing games off a roof and everyone is laughing about it , I'm obviously in the wrong place , and thats fine , I'm not pissed off , I don't care . Its just a realization I don't belong here .

Peace out :burnout:

Well, I feel the same way. This place is full of ambulance chasers. If you took away all their posts, you would have about the same thread count as the other sites. I stick around in hopes that sooner or later Greg will crack down on some of crap like Todd's video. If you guys think Greg doesn't care about VAPS accounts being deleted, you are wrong. I was not kidding when I said it was all about the numbers here. Delete the games listed in your VAPS account and then keep on posting. Sooner or later Greg will figure it out.

Is it fucking april 1st?

I really can't believe this. This shit is everyday life

Don't you fucking ever throw food away bcause there's people hungry. If you ever crash a car make damn sure you part the whole fucking thing out and don't let a junkyard crush it.

This thread pisses me off. I have never seen grown men cry over the littlest thing. 8 fucking games. 8.

Your gonna just up ad leave? That's worse at least todd is here. Shows u care so much by leaving

(I'm breaking my cardinal rule and partaking in DRAMA)

Holy crap...its a Saturday...and if I weren't going out, i'd prob be at my garage messing with the games instead of bitching about what other people do with stuff they own.

You want to make a difference, then stop buying parts. Do not buy a single used part again, ever. Obviously they came from fixable, useable, restorable games, no matter if it would cost a few mortgage payments, they were fixable, so don't ever buy another used part. You need a part? Make your own. Once everybody jumps on this, we won't have to worry about parted games anymore.

As for Todd, well I got several cheap cabinets from him, at least one of which I brought back to life - a Qbert, so you can deduct that from the 8. Every time I go there his guys go out of their way to help out and load the cabinets right into my truck! I've also picked up various bits and pieces I needed from time to time on the cheap (Darkstalkers Marquee, Ms Pac original harness, and the glass on my Pin came from him as well, and thats just off the top of my head). Let's not forget the free pinball head giveway (he could have just as easily trashed em), the $10 cabs, $7 power supplies, cheap project pins and everything else he's offered, especially to us here at discount or before the general public.

If you only saw how many games he had stashed away, you would better understand that 8 out of 800 is no big deal, and if it means making himself a commercial, to help continue his business of RESTORING GAMES..then who the f-- cares. Instead of pissing on someone else's business go and work on restoring your own! (but don't use any used parts).

PS - Let me (hopefully not be) the first to point out that there are some seriously more noble causes in the world to be passionate about then whether some guy threw a few rotted games off a roof.

Woo gotta lay off the caffeine for the rest of the day :)
