Todd Tuckey liquidates personal arcade collection WTF

A very sad day for sure. Lets hope that the buyer isn't going to hide them away. I wish Todd all the best, he was a great guy to meet.

Chris

money talks, and the guys probably burnt out. he does this for a living all day, when he comes home hes probably sick of looking at them after all these years

It's sad to see his collection go (and what a collection!), and while I've never met him, I've enjoyed watching all of his videos.

Best wishes for the future Todd!

While he is selling his minis , I believe he said he's moving other games into the game room to replace them . I don't think he's quitting the hobby , just cashing in and freshening the 'Cade . Not really that sad .

dang thats crazy... he sure did seem solemn, but was cool to see some footage in there!

(i hope whoever buys them hates bubbles and wants me to have it ;)

First it's a business and second, it's a hobby. He probably isn't getting the use he would like in the game room, so release them. He gets plenty of chances to get his gaming fix at work. I'm sure his buyers and he are all happy. Congrats. At the prices he demands, he's probably going to be able to buy a winter home in Cuba or something.

Peaking

I think Todd knows this business, and realizes the arcade pricing is peaking right now. It seems a lot of the collectors are selling lately, they're not dumb. Seems games on Craigslist are sitting longer as well, the market has been very hot for a while now I sense a burnout coming, just my opinion of course. I know Im kinda taking a break on buying games myself

It will peak again when Wreck-It Ralph 2 and Pixels 2 come out....

<ducks and runs>
:D

Pixels felt like a reaction to interest rather than driving it, but anyone in the hobby probably felt big surges of interest around King Of Kong and Tron Legacy. When King Of Kong started getting buzz, I almost couldn't believe I was hearing about arcade games on mainstream radio and stuff. It suddenly felt relevant again and I don't think it ever totally died off to where it was before that.

I'm not sure what Todds deal is, but he made another video because of concern from that first one and was in high spirits about it. If it were me, and I was immersed in it as a business all day, its doubtful I'd even want a home collection -rare or not. The mailman doesn't take a walk on his day off!

Tom said three collectors bought them, I wonder who they are and what games each got? ive been thinking about selling everything I own as well lately.

Not gonna lie, been thinking about getting out too... WISH someone would offer me a ton for my games even though half of them don't work now lmao... good for Todd, hope he keeps at it in other ways though, he's been too much of an asset to the community to disappear entirely.

I think a game in his collection with potential for highest value is prototype baby Pacman. No? It has all the trappings. Pinball, Pacman, prototype, mini, legendary known status online.

met Todd a couple years back at pinball expo. He helped with the Bushnell Q/A and hung out with Walter a bit.

Man, that dude has some seriously infectious enthusiasm and energy. Great with the kids, too. Impressive guy.

Todd Tuckey, The Mr. Rogers of Video Games!

I fully expected to see him take off his shoes.

Todd, if you're reading this (and we all know damn well you are! :D) please say on your next video, "Ok boys and girls..." as you start the video!

Sad to see you go! (from arcade collecting)

No way. the age range for these things is just hitting maximum FU money. >45 kids in or out of college and all the fast 80's cars sucked. except 928s4
