Todd has helped me a lot over the years and it sounds like some folks are just trying to start drama for the sake of drama.

Post #94 is where it gets good (woot!) I never go to pinside but this is good reading, thanks for posting =)

I haven't seen this book for myself, so I'm curious if anyone here has a copy.

thanks for the link to pinside. i am a member on there, but rarely read any threads, mainly
because i haven't turned in my arcade card yet to switch to the dark side of pinball...

i read all 6 pages of that thread and its sad. i purchased todd's 1st book because i support
todd, his company, what he does, and what he will do. he's a good all around man, and the
editor of that thread just turned everything sour.

i really don't give a rats ass how thin the paper is, how granulated the photos are, or even
that dr. dude mess-up. i don't care! i bought the fucking book to show todd my support! all
the pages could have been him drawing stick figures and nothing else, and i will would have
purchased it! :)

so yeah that's my 2 cents, and i'm a proud owner of vol 1 of todd tuckey's book! A++++

Post 94. Damn lol.

Unfortunately -- having watched a couple of his videos -- I have no trouble believing any of that.

EDIT: Just sayin'. Personally don't have interest in any products or services from either party.

EDIT2: All the cringe-worthy attempts at flaming... so many poorly worded and misspelled complaints about a book with poor sentence structure... so much white knighting... ugh.

EDIT3: I want John's Arcade to go see both parties in person for in-depth interviews. Replete with Jetblue guerilla advertising. And at the end they can stick both of them in a flaming dumpster full of returned copies of their book and shove it off Todd's roof. Now that is quality YouTube.

Whatever. book deals go south all the time. the low key bribery and buttering up that goes on by Western book publishers is par the course. Losing one is just how the game is played. There are people that know that and take advantage of that.

With that being said, the fly by night retro gaming book scene is a dumpster fire of poorly planned, poorly created and poorly managed books made by some extremely questionable people.

Who could forget that arcade marquee book at the guy was looking for crowdsourcing funding to make and self-publish. When he got his money he disappeared for about 18 months and ended up with a deal from bitmap books to publish it even though the crowdfunding money was to get the book self-published.

Pinside sucks. OK now that thats out of way

I always enjoyed his videos..

My few actual dealings with him he has pretty much been a total shyster so not surprised.

I didn't read the entire thing, but post #128 pinball buzz says "this will be my last post here".
When you say something like that, you have to mean it, instead he goes on 20 rants a page later.
He should have made that post, then hit "unsubscribe" (I think you can even block a post from ever been seen again) and let it die.

As far as pinside sucking, there are some people that suck there, quite a bit of negativity. A lot of know-it-alls with bad attitudes just waiting to pounce and criticize. Idiots that keep buying games NIB then complain the software sucks, umm the last 3 you bought you complained about the software, at what point does it become your fault?

But there are things to like too, some members are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Guys that genuinely like to help. I think every question I've ever had there was answered.
They layout and forum software i'd say it far better than pretty much any forum I visit.
Imagine how much better the for sale section would be here if we used that software.

Editor dude comes off like a complete cockbag...

THAT SAID, I admit I only read about 1/3 of the thread. I really don't give enough of a damn to bother with the rest.

Man, I would love to see Tony Temple do a book with Todd. Arcadeblogger.com is gold every post. I think it would be a cool collaboration.

KLOV > Pinside. The drama seems a little washed out on this site compared to pinside. I used to be active, but they ran me off for my lack of groupthink when I told them all that their Magic Girl, Predator, and Big Lebowski Pre-payments had been wasted.

Ok, who's this dipshit editor out of Vancouver, certainly not representing Canada. Sounds like a whiney douche

I read this and tried to think of what Canada is representative of, and now I just want to get high, eat some Tim Horton's, and watch re-runs of TPB and SCTV.

Its all about the Letterkenny now. TPB is last weeks news ;)

After reading that thread it reminded me when I bought that "vector arcade book" off of ebay. For those who havnt had a chance to read it, its literally klov description printed out. $40!!! I'll trade it for one of the erroneous pinball volume 1's. You know that shits gonna be collectable.

There's much that doesn't make much sense about this project. Someone said the book was advertised as having high-quality paper, but those who have it say it's newspaper-quality. Andrew (AKA "pinballbuzz") said the paper used was the standard type used in most books, and that only 300 copies were printed (to flush out any errors before thousands were printed) but later says that issue has been fixed. The book was apparently Kickstarted but Andrew gave Todd a 40k advance. He also paid $5k for both Todd and his daughter to fly out to Vegas (for what? For massages and a free laptop?), but then says he doesn't expect to get that money back (well, if it was an offer w/o any strings attached, why would you?). He hired Todd as a freelance writer for 10 books, but then says Todd demanded that whatever he wrote had to be printed verbatim - including spelling and grammatical errors? Why would an Editor AND the person putting up the money for this project agree to that?? And then he cancels the contract with Todd days after the 1st book comes out because people are complaining about all the errors? Now Todd is saying he won't say anything until he talks with his lawyer. Quick - someone find the video(s) in question where he's using the book to level machines before it gets pulled! Even done as a joke, why would you do that to someone who gave you $45k? The whole story is just crazy.
