Today's unbelievable acquisition: a free Moon Patrol!!

It's beat, the cab is tired, but the monitor is in there, the tube appears to be in tact, the CP and coin door are there, as are the power brick and power supply board. What do you want for free??!!

The only thing holding the RB up was the wacko omega race, one move and everything turned to dust.

Make sure you don't get free termites too. Is that just water damage or is it being eaten? Yikes.

I'm not entirely sure... It was in the guy's back yard, and 3 snails fell out of it. I saw some other bugs but I don't think there were termites in there.

It's in my shed currently, safely away from the home garcade, in quarantine.

Im just bored and messing with you man,but i would part it and get rid of it if i were you. Thats what i did with the games in the pic.

Care to offer a story behind this beast???

It's a pretty wild story actually. A guy was having a yard sale close to my home. Yesterday I checked it out and saw he had quite a few cabs, as well as a Chase H.Q. sitting in the back of his garage. I asked him what the story was with the Chase H.Q., he said it powered up but gave an error. I asked what he wanted for it and the price was suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper low, so I told him I would take it. I told him I liked the old-school games, and he proceeds to tell me that out behind his house he has a 'graveyard', which at one point had a Tempest out there. He never let me see it though.

Today I went back to his place because he had some other parts I wanted to check out, so I figured I'd see if he was still there having his sale. He was. We were talking about some other things and I asked about the 'graveyard' again. After a few questions I asked if I could see it, that I love that kind of stuff. He said 'sure' and flings open the door..............

There were about 6 games out there, lying in 3 feet of grass. Moon Patrol was one of the corpses, lying face-down. I yelled out MOON PATROL!!!!! He was like 'yeah that's an old one'. I said at that point "are these trash to you? Would you like to get rid of the Moon Patrol?" He said "YOU WANT THAT THING?" I nodded yes. Next thing you know, it was getting loaded into the back of my Jeep, slimy snails, grass, and all.

He claimed he had the boards 'somewhere' still, and said he could snatch the marquee back from a friend whom he gave it to. I told him not to worry about all that- I was just happy to be saving the game from Death. He was a really nice guy and I think he was simply happy to see someone have as much of a passion for these games as he once did.

That would be a great starting point for an epic restoration! I mean almost anyone can fill in a few nicks and scratches, but if you showed someone the *before* pictures of that one, you'd have bragging rights times infinity.

As of today, my plan is to simply reinforce it structurally, and then see if I can get it back up and playable.

I really don't want to part it out. I love the fact that it's a survivor, even if it's not beautiful. It's got character to me, even though it's so beat up.

I still can't believe I saw it just lying there!
