I picked this up today off Craigslist. Its a Major Havoc conversion in a Space Duel cab. It plays beautifully, looks amazing and is in overall great shape.

I may have paid a bit too much, but considering I'll probably never find a dedicated MH in my lifetime and the rarity of even the conversions, I just went with it. I'm very happy with this one.

Nice score man. Great game as well, one of the best.
There is no "paid too much" when you have the chance to pick up a game you want and its local. MH are not falling off trees by any means.

I'm just excited to have the game. This was MY game growing up in the arcade. The arcade in my small town of 2000 was attached to the laundry mat. It had a dedicated MH of all things. I would go to every payphone and vending machine in town on Saturday morning to scrape up enough change to play this game. I could play for hours on a few quarters.

Glad you could pick it up bolex. We never see Havocs around here, so be glad you could get the one that eventually did turn up, conversion be damned!

I love major havoc. I can't wait to install the roller in mine at some point (tempest conversion)

This one plays so well. I'm really excited. I loved the roller, but I think I'm going to keep the spinner for now and wait. I still have hopes of getting a dedicated one day. lol.

I don't know that the SD conversion is any easier to find than a dedicated. Good score. They rarely pop up for sale!

Great game and even conversions are hard to find... nice pickup! You just can't beat MH's gameplay, it's a long term keeper all the way with all the levels that you have to learn.

Looks like it's in great shape too, I'll bet you did OK when you consider how much the MH PCB's/conversion kits go too.

I think I did pretty good. It wasn't a steal, but i did not get ripped off for sure. It was more money than I've ever paid for a machine, but I think it was a good deal. He was originally asking $1000.00, but then later dropped it to $900.00. I bartered him down to $750.00.

I really miss my Major Havoc. It was also a Space Duel conversion. I don't like the dedicated cabinets. They are too small to me. IMHO, the space ship on the side of SD cabinets looks a lot like the "Catatrastofighter" anyway. My cabinet was also in really good shape. The CPO wasn't but the rest of the game was. Great fun. I sold it cause I needed the cash. I had SD parts and converted it back to a dedicated SD and got $400 and $350 for the MH kit. The kit was in great demand. I had a lot of interest in it. This was 6 or 7 years ago. No idea what that would bring now. I greatly regret selling it but I was broke. You do what you have to. Huge congratulations on yours. I think you paid a good price for it. Worth every penny. I hope I can have one again some day.

Pics of my former game dressed as MH and then as SD.

That's a good price. Like you said, not a steal, but a good price paid. I plan to build a dedicated one, but I would grab that one in a heartbeat for $750, if it was local to me.

Me too

Just grabbed one yesterday, still waiting to pick up a MH Tempest conversion and a tempest.

Never seen one in a Gravitar cabinet before but it looks pretty damn cool that way.

Sorry, I do spend a lot of time locating this stuff. I was told the guy had a dedicated MH when I went there it was a tempest cab painted blue but had the MH guts in it and the board was missing the quad pokey add on. After I bought a couple other games off of him and loaded them up he found the quad pokey board and then told me he hand another storage unit with 5 tempests in various states. That was probably the reason he had about a dozen 6100 deflection boards, HV cages and, tempest boards floating around. I'll take pics when I go back down..

i miss the old days of digging in phone return slots for coins! man, i totally forgot about that!
what a great feeling it was to find just one quarter :)
