Sometimes you get lucky on CL, and I don't necessarily mean the games themselves. Yes the games were a fun pickup, but when you meet a super nice, super cool person in the deal it makes it so much more enjoyable. I think I had more fun chatting with him then taking the games home.
Hopefully Jon F. in Lee's Summit will find our group soon enough.
I picked up a Donkey Kong, Dig Dug, and a Zarzon (wtf?) cocktail from Jon this morning.
The DK is working 100% and will just need some cosmetic cleanup (anyone know where I can get the wood grained veneer to cut strips to go around the box?)
The Dig Dug looks nice but is dead. Jon tried to do some power supply work with help from another forum, but didn't get very far. There is nothing going to the monitor, no sound (apparently used to be a high pitched screech), but the board *DOES* have a lit LED. I will take this to the repair forum as there's probably a lot of work that needs to be done to restore one of my favorite classics.
The Zarzon (apparently researched to be one of the worst games of all time) has a super nice cocktail cosmetically, with CP/underlay cards that match the game. There is no board. My question here is pretty simple. What TAITO PCBs would be a plug and play into this cocktail?
I'm sure most of you want to know how much. I paid $350 for all 3 games which I think was a pretty fair deal. Definitely some work ahead and hopefully sooner than later I can have Jon over the house to play some Dig Dug and whatever becomes of the Zarzon.
