I picked up a couple of cabinets today from a friend and fellow collector - an early serial Asteroids UR and a converted Robotron cabinet. The Asteroids should clean up OK, just missing the PCB and the control panel is well worn. I have the Takeman repro for it. It has yellow text on the bezel, owl eye door, 801 monitor, and wood under the leaf switches attached under the control panel.

The WMS cabinet was a Robotron, but is pretty rough. The top and front would have to be replaced. The bottom is pretty rough, and I think that if I restore it, I'd use a biscuit joiner and replace the bottom couple of inches. I have everything to build a Joust UR, minus the bezel, so this will probably get stripped and stenciled Joust. Pics below:

Those Robotron pics hurt to look at. I wonder what the lit switch on the top of the cab was for?

I was told that the cabinet was turned into a gambling game and the top button might have reset the statistics or something. Yeah, it's rough.. but I think with a new top, front, and the bottom edges replaced, it will restore and take paint just fine.

From what I understand Joust sometimes came in Robotron cabinets with the straight sides, so the Joust parts will go in a correct cabinet (I hope).
