Today's Pick Up Wizard of Wor

Had fun playing it a few times in Mame, never got to play it properly because it has unique joysticks. Pretty sure it shares similar hardware with other MCR games.

I still go play the Wizard of Wor at Cedar Point every time I am there. I can remember that damn machine taunting me as a kid and the creepy Wizard on the art. It would be a keeper for me without question. I play my WoW boardset in my KI cabinet with a JAMMA adapter.

grabbed it for 100. world of crap thou.

first it isn't working. he said when it did work the monitor would cut out after a half hour. then he turned it on recently and now the screen flashes and no noise. so i am going to open it up tomorrow and see whats going on. anyone work on these boards?

Great game. I've had mine since March of '98. A few of the boards can be swapped with Gorf boards, I know that much. I'm sure you can get quality answers in the repair section. Good luck and congrats!

Nice score. I got mine for $150 non-working but complete. Tested everything and found the pcb was not functioning. Couldn't find anyone who repairs those but I was lucky enough to find 5 non-working boardsets locally for $75. Was able to piece together 3 working sets by testing every single board. Monotonous, but worth it.

Btw, there's a working set on e bay right now if needed (not mine). They want $95. I was only able to get $75 for the working one I sold.

Currently not working. onto the help page once i see whats going on. Any opinions on this game?

VERY fun game with 2 players.

I've always wanted to have an all 2 player only arcade setup. Makes it more fun.

Read up on it alittle. Reseat the boards for sure. Be gentle though with that one.

Cool game though. Worth having for sure.

Gorf shares many of the boards as does Space Zap.
Very easy machine to fix if you can find a spare board set!
As far as the boards, all boards are the same as Gorf except the game board and the ROM board.
DO NOT unplug and plug in the power harness with the machine on!
I did that once..... Toasted my CPU board.
There is a game board on EBAY for $20 right now, no idea if it works.

Feel free to ask me anything, I also have a bunch of spare parts as I bought the entire guts of a machine last month off eBay. Keeping the boards though.

Wizard of Wor is one of my favorites. Once you get yours going I think you'll like it too.

will be there in two weeks, gonna play wow, LL, AD, hercules pinball. i own a wow and its one of my favorites, i like to play against my brothers. it really is a clasic imho!
i hope they did some maintenance at cedar point, last year most of the classic games were broken.

Love this game. If I could only get one classic Midway title this would probably be it.

Astrocade (card cage) hardware......a la Gorf, Space Zap, Extra Bases, and Robby Roto.

The joysticks are (slightly) modified Pac-Man/BurgerTime/Midway stick.....extra switch banks.

Check voltages first.
Do you know anyone with a WOW that would let you swap cards one at a time?
Easiest way to troubleshoot for sure!!

I have a spare drawer, wire harness and transformers and such... Let me know if you need them.
