Todays pick up: a HORRIFIC Asteroids for $100

If that was mine. I would make it work electrically and spray wood hardener and a couple of clear coats..

I would create an abandoned arcade and craft beer business.

I would not worry about people eating or drinking around the machines.

Those mud dauber nests on the pcb should act as good heat exchangers for the chips. You should just leave those in place. ;)

Hello? Owl eye coin door? That and the volcano buttons made the trip worth it right there. You could literally burn the rest and come out ahead.

This looks like a good candidate for a cabinet swap. Find a repro cab, or an empty Asteroids and there you go.

This. Totally worth $100.. I don't think I would have even put it in a shed, just left it outside.

Man..... and y'all thought my Pole Position was in bad shape...... ;)

Kidding.

I think it was a good score. I have little doubt that it can be made functional, even if the cab itself is too far gone.

If the monitor shroud is okay, what would you want for it? I could use both it and the bezel, but I don't know if I can swing both.

The Asteroids I have was in a barn for 9 years, luckily for me this was a barn in much better condition. It belonged to my college roommate's father who won it in a raffle. I remember seeing it over his house when I would stop by. I would always say if he's interested in getting it let me know. I'd mention it every couple of years and he would tell me his father is thinking about it. Then I was shooting at his range in his back years later. I asked if his father still had it, and he said yes it stopped working years ago and it's in his barn. I drove right over and loaded it up, and it's been in my basement ever since. Inside was immaculate, but the outside was a little rough. Didn't mean to hijack your thread, but your story reminded me of mine a little. Glad you were able to save a couple parts. Seeing games in that condition makes me sad.
