Thanks Dantebean for the heads up.. :p Just a few blocks from my house was a garage sale that had 3 arcade games. The guy said his friend gave them to him and now he no longer wants them and has no idea what they are worth. So he had $50 written on each cab. I said $100 for all three.. then he said $125... well.. of course I bought them. Whats crazy about this is some guy came 30 min before I did and told him that $50 each wasn't worth it and that he will pass on the deal.

1. Choplifter - works!
2. Rolling Thunder - does nothing.. but has everything in it.
3. Street Fighter II - plays blind

Nice Joustlifter! :D

That's awesome. Rolling Thunder looks in good shape, too.

For $125, I would have been all over those games. Nice snag!

I think you mean robolifter.. cab was originally robotron, then converted to joust.

With a Joust bezel. The bezel could have been swapped over but also could be a Robo/Joust factory conversion cab.

Either way, great cab for a Multi-Williams.

shoulda countered with $112.50 and then went and bought a 12 pack with the money you saved to celebrate. :)

nice pick-up

Well, I got them home and plugged them in.. I think he had the games mixed around on which ones worked and dont work, but I am still happy.

Rolling Thunder works, but I cannot see my character during play.. I can see his bullets though.. kinda strange.

Choplifter - Sadly doesnt power on or anything.. one of my favorite childhood games..

And SF2 - like he said.. plays blind, so probably an easy fix.

Fantastic score RidicRick25! I can remember being excited to see Choplifter BITD although now I've come to realize that most examples were desecrated classics.

Thankfully the conversion enabled the cab to survive all these years so there's no use in complaining

Ok.. need advice here...

Should I restore it to Joust or Robotron? I like Joust more just because I played it more as a kid, but Robotron seems to be more rare and is also a fun game.

Also I want to keep choplifter since I love that game so much.. what cab did it originally come in?

Joust and Robotron are anything but rare. If you're worried at all about resell value than you should go with Robotron IMO as it will sell for more money and with less work than Joust (IMO). However if you enjoyed Joust more bitd why fight it? Go with Joust and play the he77 out of that sumab1tch :D!

I think the perfect solution is to restore it with Joust stencils and buy a jrok board when they're available again next month and have the best of both worlds.

Yeah I dont plan on reselling and I think Joust seems more like the route I should go. When I was a kid my best friends parents owned a bar/restaurant and it had 3 arcade games that I played for many years before the bar shut down. Joust, Choplifter, and Donkey Kong.

The Jrok sounds pretty sweet. I own a graphics business so I could put inkjet vinyl on the sides of the joust but I think it would be fun to try to stencil. Then it would match my Stargate.

Its a Robotron with the straight edges. Some got converted to Joust at the factory so you may find Robotron art, covered with Joust art, then crap paint over the whole thing. Joust looks best in a Joust cab. Buy a set of Robo Stencils from www.gamestencils.com and do it with a MW CPO (Pheonix Arcade), bezel from Arcadeshop, and a Robotron or Multi Williams marquee from Phoenix Arcade. You could do 1 side Joust and 1 Robotron but that would be work. I also think Joust 2 colours with black sides would work great too with yellow t-moulding. Also using Joust coloured red ball sticks looks good.

You can't go wrong with either a JROK board or an ArcadeSD board (more games) both play great. If you are not a purist and just looking to play the games the ArcadeSD board is probably the way to go as you can play stuff like Berzerk, Frenzy, Rushn Attack in the same cab which are fun fun fun.

To restore to original will cost more than either board.

Sell me your Rolling Thunder, I'd like to have one in my gameroom ;)
