Nice pick up there Rick.

What's your plan for it?

Love the ergonomic joystick positioning on that thing. lol.

Haven't had much time to look at it.. the guy knew nothing about it, it was given to him. Turned it on and the video looks like this. Also noticed a fuse not installed which I am sure is stopping something from working. I dont know much about this cabinet, first time Ive come across a SI cocktail.

Nice pick up. Great price.
Does it work?

Those terrible ergonomics are probably the reason they use a joystick on the cocktails but buttons for movement on the uprights.

Agreed. The Taito Space Invaders machines all have joysticks, Midway tried to avoid using a joystick on Space Invaders as much as possible; Why? I have no clue. The Midway cocktails have this weird knob thing... I don't understand it.

Here's a flyer pic:

I've seen a few of these pop up over the past year, and usually non-working for pretty cheap. It's a cool score, but I wouldn't give up my SID cab with the blacklight for anything.

Good luck getting it going, that's always the fun part.. :D

Edit: After looking at the screenshot of the game running... Try swapping that big blue. My Millipede was giving me the same icky screen until I swapped the cap, then it worked flawless (and has since). I'm not going to argue about big blues, just a suggestion on something to try... ;)

What a steal! Congrats on your new Taito Cocktail! I've been looking hard for this one. Missed a couple local SI Part II's as well.

I don't mind the ergonomics myself. If you know what grip to use for the joystick, use your thumb to shoot, get the right sized chair (or adjustable), and adjust the legs to the right height (use 6mm hex/Allen key), then you're in business. It's more comfortable for me to look at the smaller screen with the dark bezel too.

If you need any help getting it fixed, contact Andy from www.andysarcade.com.

Also, check your voltages! http://www.andysarcade.net/personal/tech/SIvolts/index.htm

Thanks FuturePrimitive and everyone else who is helping. I wills start working on it this weekend for sure. First going to replace the big blue capacitor, replace the missing fuse, and checking voltages. I honestly think this one will be an easy fix, but who knows, for $50 I can't complain. I have a chance to buy a full size Space Invaders dedicated cab for $200 from a friend, everything is there and in great shape, it just doesn't turn on at all (monitor or anything), hoping its a power supply. So I might pick that one up next week.

$200 for this, is it worth it? Everything is there, PCB's and all, dont know the history of it or when the last time it worked. It does nothing when plugged in and thats as far as my friend got with it and now wants to sell it. It would look good in my collection next to my Defender, Asteroids, and Stargate.

Sorry off topic but I'm still jealous that you beat me to the whole multi-konami cab you have sitting in your garage. Been an idea of mine for years and never got it rolling. Nice job!

Nah it looks terrible. Lucky for you I like terrible things. So feel free to forward the info to me! ;)

Just talkedd to my friend selling the big space invaders. Buying it next weekend for $160. He is even going to deliver it.. 2 hour drive for him.. but I am putting some graphics on a few of his cabs he is also bringing down. Win win for both of us. Now its just another project to add to my dam list. lol

Nice score on both the cocktail and soon to be upright man. I scored my nonworking upright for 150, just needed a new eeprom and a lil power supply work. I threw a braze kit in there and called it a day

I'm sure the upright will be an easy fix though, at least your bezel looks a helluva lot better than mine
