KatanaJoe, his son and I took a short road trip to visit a local collector that is downsizing to free up some space (where have we ever heard that before ... ???). Joe was heading there to look at a Punchout and I was going along just to see what was on the chopping block.

Joe got his punchout:

And I found a little gem tucked in a corner:

Yes, it is a Bubbles cocktail. One of the rarest of the Williams cocktails. Especially one that hasn't been converted to some junky JAMMA game.

Here it is in the house.

The artwork is in good shape, except for the instruction cards. When I first plugged it in, joystick one was not working but after I reseated the I/O connector, it started working. There is some chipping on the laminate, which is not uncommon. I need to look at replacing at least one of the light sockets in the coin door.

The main thing is the electronics are in good shape and the monitor is clear and bright with minimal burn.

So all in all, today was a good day.

Nice!!! Never saw a bubbles cocktail in the wild before. Funny how for the longest time, people would brag about how rare the Joust cocktail was, when all along it most likely was Bubbles that really rated.

Great score.

Nice Bubbles!

Are the CPs lit underneath, like some of the other Williams cocktails?

I don't know. I haven't torn it completely apart yet. I know there are are least two bulbs out in the coin door, but I will need to figure out how to get access to the underside of the control panels to see.

I have only seen pictures of them, until now. Exidy had one up in Colorado that we had talked about, but the shipping was going to kill me. So I was happy to get one locally.

Nice pickups for both you and Joe
Thanks.

I think you picked up 1\2 a Punch Out.

No, it is the picture. Both monitors are there and look great. Bright and clean. Sombody painted the sides black , but the electronics and the cabinet are solid. There is one spot of delamination on the side at the bottom, but it shouldn't take too much to fix. Joe did well on this one. Not high on my radar, but that's what makes this hobby so interesting, everybody has different wish lists.

Punch-Out!! Cabaret?

I think you picked up 1\2 a Punch Out.

It does look really short to me also. Maybe someone has rebuilt the base?

Something is definitely up with it because I know Joe and his son and they are not THAT tall.

Optical illusion??

Does it have one monitor or two? It could be a Playchoice unisystem conversion to Punch Out. Is there a speaker grille right below the marquee?

It could be a conversion, I don't know enough about the Nintendo cabinets to say one way or another. I do know it has two monitors and if you look at the picture, the speaker grills are below the control panel.

When you open the top, there will be two screws (one each at the top corners) of each CP. Take those off, and the CPs will lift up.

I don't have a picture handy, but can try to get one from the Moon Patrol cocktail tonight if you need it.

Congrats on the score Ken, was there any other interesting stuff there?

That PO cab looks about the right height, Nintendo cabs tend to be a bit on the shorter side.

I checked the Punch-out manual on line the unit should be 74 2/5 inches tall im 6' 2" tall so we should be the same height the sides were not painted black the seller Brian told me that when he got the unit the sideart was half torn off so he took it all off and was going to replace it with new sideart never got around to doing it. The optical illusion must be the fact that Ken is at the top of the driveway taking a picture downwards it does look kind of funny!!! haha the last thing i need help on is finding out what that self destruct button does on the coin door Thanks Guys see ya Joe!!!

Thanks I saw those. I'll try it when I have a little more time and energy.

Hi Oli,

He had a couple of interesting things. I don't know if everyting was on the chopping block or not. He has an Asteroids cocktail and a Space Duel cocktail as well as an upright Blasteroids. I think he has the Tapper Cocktail that is on Ebay. Also a Food Fight and a converted Major Havoc. There were a couple of others that I am blanking on.
