So today I picked up a Donkey Kong off of Craigslist. I was lucky enough to find the ad under Collectibles listed as 'Video Game Console' and not under the Video Gaming listings as an arcade cabinet.

Off the bat I noticed a few things. The coin door for starters, the speaker grill was missing (this is driving me insane), the monitor position was a bit further up and closer to the bezel (not at the angle of an original DK). I also have to work with the two screws in front of the cabinet at the bottom of the bezel frame, I need to fix that. The cabinet came with a 19" NEOTEC monitor that tends to un-adjust it's self upon start up then straightens out after it's 'warmed' up a bit.

The cabinet happened to be equipped with a 60-in-1 which is not my cup of tea but since it resides in the kitchen right now I do not mind because of the other games that are included (which my family love playing).

Overall it was an awesome pickup. There are going to be a few things I need to work on as mentioned above, I am pretty sure this is a repo cabinet, no way to really tell since I have never been up close or seen inside of a real DK cab.

Edit: Other cosmetics will be dealt with in time, I just want to knock out the major stuff first.

Sweet pick up.

Do you plan on restoring to to original DK condition or just leave it as is?

cool pick up.

It's definitely a donkey kong "style" cab.

I don't think it's worth deconverting. Leave it as a 60 in 1, or do some other multi to it.

YOu have the wrong monitor, no power brick, wrong joystick and buttons, not to mention wire harness, pcb, etc.

It'll take $1000 to turn that into a donkey kong.

Im hoping you already know that's a knock off Nintendo cab, most likely a Chinese import. Parts from a genuine Nintendo cab are not really going to fit.

Aye thanks!

I plan on leaving in the 60-in-1 for many reasons. As far as the monitor, power brick, harness and PCB I have from another cabinet.

All I am really looking to do is cut out the speaker grill, change the monitor angle, replace the CP, fix the lower bezel glass holder and coin door.

EC, you could've stopped by and had lunch :) It's a stone's throw away.

Oddball cab, but it looks like you're going to make the lady presentable which is pretty cool.

10 days on CL. Cray cray.

I'll hit you up next time in town haha.

That is what I plan on doing, I am going to add what is missing and make it a repro DK cab. I am still on the hunt for an original DK.

I will say that it was on CL for quite some time. I spoke with the seller briefly and he mentioned that about 10 people were in line with various offers but he could not accommodate a pickup time for them. Luckily I was able to make time and pick it up. :)

The bezel and marquee don't have the TM or Nintendo America marks

Maybe someone had an early DK with Bad cainet and moved parts into this one?

DK serial number 1 has been found!!
