That is the question. I've been thinking about taking an empty cab that I have and using it for a vertical game. Don't worry no dedicated cab was harmed during this experiment. The cab in question actually says "MK4 partial build" on the serial tag, I believe it was a cab made by midway for a kit game to go in it. There is no evidence of MK4 side art or any other distinguishing marks.
I'm in the process of deconverting a 48-n-1 back into a Leland Quarterback and since I have this empty cab thought why not use this for either a vertical multi or a dedicated vertical of some sort.

The monitor is not seated correctly so the monitor bezel is off a little

Shows the vertical one with a few horizontal in the same style cab.

When I was just getting into the hobby, I built a horizontal MAME cab, then a vertical one. The vertical has a 27" CRT and gets played more than the horizontal MAME or any of the dedicated machines I own.

A resounding YES from me!

Any suggestions on what multi vertical board to use. I've got the 48-n-1 board I pulled from the other cab but want to look at other options

I snapped another picture of it last night with it sitting in line with the others. I think based on the suggestions from this thread and another one (link here http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=386494) I will try and put Raiden, Raiden II, 19XX and a few others on a switcher in this cab if I can. Does anybody know if these games will work correctly on a switcher and maybe a few more I could add to the list.

I just want to chime in and say bravo on rescuing a Leland Quarterback. The last game I really obsessed over in my arcade era, and one you don't see floating around too much anymore. I have seen people on here carving them up, but never anyone rescuing one.

Awesome!
