I have an oportunity to trade (even) my Dragons Lair (Daphne) Space Ace combo with a Gorgar Pinball, what say you all?

Seems like a one sided story so far. I'll let you guys post until the am and then post my decision. I like to sleep in something like this. By the way I'm still looking for a TRON if that peaks anyones interest.

I have to agree. I wouldn't even think about it. Not only is Gorgar a cool pin, but the Daphne cab is completely replaceable. A low end PC, Arcade VGA (or similar), CRT monitor, & cabinet. Single joystick & a few buttons. Should be able to re-create that for a few hundred if you really want to.

I've seen a lot of nice Gorgars for sale for $500-650. Is your combo cabinet really nice? Is it basically a replica but running MAME, or is it a totally generic cabinet with 15" PC monitor?

I'd say this is a tossup depending on the details. If your combo cabinet is nice you could be on the losing end of this deal. Plus, Gorgar is not that great of a pin IMO. A little too slow for my taste.

Yeah, definately depends on the money invested. Up here in Western Canada, I've seen Gorgar go as high as $1100.00 on Craigslist, no idea if he moved it or not, but one showed up a couple of months later that didn't look anywhere near as nice for $700.00 ...

Original DL cab is original lacked guts so I daphned it.

I used the latest Blu-Ray versions of Space Ace and Dragons Lair not that that matters. ArcadeVGA to a Capped WG, Controls driven by Ipac. The games are switchable by pressing 1-player and moving the joyleft. Orginal Coin Door, controls and Score board all 100%.

Once you memorize how to play DL/SA, it's the same everytime, and you can always win.

Pinball will be different everytime, no matter how good you get...

I'm not sure about the trade value's- they might be about equal in value. If you enjoy Dragon's Lair/ Space Ace- Keep it. Gorgar is a okay pin. I think it has a place in history simply becasue it was the first talking pin- not because of good gameplay. You can always find a Gorgar, but if you want a Dragons Lair/ Daphne, you will be stuck building another one.

I'd personally go for the Gorgar, for a couple of reasons, especially if the pin was in 8/10 condition or better...

Pricewise they're probably close to each other. Fair trade for both of you... HOW FAR AWAY IS THE MACHINE AND WHO HAS TO DO THE HAULIN'?

The Daphne is buildable so you can always make one if you miss it, pinballs are unique and cannot be replicated.

The pinball would be ALOT easier to get your money back out of in the future, getting top dollar for a Daphne is a very small audience and you'll have to sit on it to move it. Whenever I've listed a pinball I'm flooded with responses and its gone quickly... whenever I have something really cool listed but more obscure I always have to sit on it a while, sometimes months to find someone who will rush over with cash in their hands.

I think that if they were both listed on craigslist at the same time for the same price, the pinball would be gone the next day and the Daphne would have to be bumped down in price over a few weeks...

Pinballs are much funner than laser games, and in the end will give more of your friends and family happiness and playtime... my pins are pretty much the most played games during parties, even my old E.M. pinball gets way more plays than Asteroids, Joust, Spy Hunter or Missile Command, easily... Something about 'em makes people go ga-ga.

That sounds like a pretty nice Daphne cabinet. Could be worth $1000+ to someone to someone who wants a Dragons Lair. I would only do that trade if I really wanted the Gorgar. Gorgars are easy to find, but it would take a lot of time/effort to rebuild the Daphne if you miss it. Do you really want the Gorgar? That's the real question.
