I've only had to file one PayPal claim in my hundreds of transactions over the years but it seems like I'm going to have to again. :(

Biggest bummer is this is against someone who does this hobby much good by producing wonderful products... it's just that he won't respond to my emails so I really have no other choice. :(

I hate doing it and if this person reads this post, I am truly sorry but what else is there to do? I know you won't sell me any of your future products and I guess I have to accept that but it just stinks it had to come down to a PayPal claim. :(

Reason I'm posting this publically is what would you do? You pay for something a month and a half ago and get about 1/5th of your order in the mail. You write and ask for an ETA on the remainder and get ignored. Then about a month after the order, you write to see what's up and if you can just cancel the remainder of your oder and again, ignored. So last evening I write to say I'm going to go forward with a PayPal claim and while I'm hopeful to get a response where that's not needed... I just don't have a good feeling about it.

Am I wrong to proceed with the PayPal claim? I know this person is highly respected and I'm the first to admit he does 110% quality work... but why the ignoring? It just doesn't make sense?

At any rate, guess I had a string hanging out today because I felt I had to write this... I just hate when this stuff happens and I do truly feel bad about the PayPal claim thing. :(

Without knowing any particulars it's hard to judge for certain...

Are you sending E-mails or PM's? If they are PM's, are you sure they are getting looked at even? Maybe this person isn't even logging on to the forum right now??

Is it a lot of money or a part you really need? Or is it more the principle of the thing? I'm not knocking you for considering a Paypal claim, just trying to understand the scenario. I don't like getting ignored when there is a question about an order or an issue with one either... Common courtesy goes a long way.

Anyway, sorry to hear things went shitty for you.

Im assuming this has something to do with artwork sets I saw the discussion on a month or so ago?

It doesnt really matter who it is, if you paid for the items 6 weeks ago and have only recieved 1/5th of your order, the seller at least owes you the courtesy of keeping in contact with you with (at minimum) weekly updates as to thier status. If he wont answer your emails, file for the claim. If youve been PMing him, email him first and give him time to respond to that, then file the claim

fair is fair, and as far as Im concerned, youve been fair enough

File the claim, it helps protect others (us) when this person tries to rip us off. If he/she isn't trying to rip you off, you'd have your product. If it is a one time thing, it won't be a big deal in the long run with Paypal, but if everyone gives him/her a pass, we ALL keep getting ripped off.

File the claim now.

Good luck with that claim... I think there is a 30 day time period for you to file said claim and by your description it appears to have been longer than 30 days.

I could be wrong though (wouldn't be the first time).

Sending emails to his business/PayPal email address.

It's not a huge sum of money, but enough to warrant a refund on the what hasn't been delivered. And we are actually at the point where we GAVE UP on this project because it's taken so long. It was a project my 9 year old son and I got all jazzed up for only to both loose interest because of the delay. But it's actually worked out well because we are now into a different project that we are enjoying. :)

Common courtesy goes a long way.

Thanks. And that's the thing... I'm reasonable and old enough to understand "real life" getting in the way of all this arcade game stuff. But not replying to email when you have someone counting on you for a product you openly advertise and nowhere state that you'll have to wait a month or two(or more) for? Makes you not want to do future business with them even though... like I've already said... they produce top-notch product.

I must be right at the 45 day limit at PayPal because they let me create the claim(even though I haven't submitted it yet). I really don't want to do it but I don't see any other way out except just waiting for an unknown amount of time to get something I no longer need(or want). :(

Man Jeff, again, I'm sorry a guy like you had so much trouble with ordering from a reputable service provider. It's unfortunate that you still haven't received any communication or assurance of your order even after paying for it. I know he's a busy guy and he does so much to contribute to the hobby. So I hope you guys can somehow resolve the situation. Both of you are cool guys and it sucks to see something like this happen.

Just sent a PM here "just in case" my email was getting eaten by a SPAM filter. I know my email was getting through before because I ordered something else a day or two before this order and we exchanged email since I received a tracking number email two or three times(I was just giving him a headsup about his email/tracking system).

We'll see where it goes... I'm crossing my fingers. :)

DOAH!!! Got an almost instant reply here and it seems like someone's new server may have been munching my emails as SPAM.

That makes the most sense to me because honestly... it just didn't fit that someone could be so dedicated to the hobby and ignore a person they are trying to help out.

I usually consider email way more reliable than PMs but in this case it was opposite. I'm just happy someone mentioned PM above because it sparked an idea that paid off. :D

Case closed.

You really gave us a scare there Jeff. I had a feeling there was an issue. Yeah, sending a PM is for sure an option you should use to communicate if possible. Like I said, both of you are cool guys and it showed through. I hope you're able to finally get that kit and eventually get it put together in a cab even if it's no longer on your list of projects.

You realize that you also authored a thread on a public forum about it too though, right? Usually the dude in question sees or gets wind of such a thread and action is then quickly forthcoming, with the standard list of excuses to cover said dude's ass. I find it hard to believe that people just 'forget' to finish deals and then when the slighted party tries to contact them, they conveniently claim 'spam filter' or 'out of town' as the reason they haven't responded. As a seller, you can also 'initiate contact' if you truly haven't heard from a person that you KNOW should be contacting you about your part of a deal that hasn't yet been fulfilled. Common courtesy goes a long way.

Just check the spam folder?

Being in the IT field, I find it very annoying that the "spam filter ate your email" is now an accepted reason for no communication.

Anyway, hope this means things are going to work out for you Jeff.

I don't know if it's a local setting or server setting, but we never get to see our spam here at work. It must only be on the server and not our individual terminals...

It is "the check is in the mail" for the 21st century. *shrugs*

Being in the email anti-spam business for the day job, I see it.

And having my own small business, I experienced it. Trend Micro anti-spam sucks for false positives. I have to constantly check the spam bucket. Add to it the crappy Microsoft Outlook spam rules then I have to check the junk mail folder. This is a daily thing.

Now that my service provider has working anti-spam software in the cloud somewhere, I'm getting VERY few spams, but I'm hearing that I'm not getting all my messages. It's frustrating.

Not to beat a dead horse, but again I don't understand. Why use Trend Micro and Outlook? I guess the answer is that some people don't have a choice. I've run into more people that are just unwilling to change. Oh well.
