Need some opinions and / or advice.

I am currently restoring a Burgertime cab and have pretty much all the parts minus the PCB and bezel. I have an idea what I'll do with the bezel, but am contemplating putting a 48-in-1 inside. There is only one problem with that... I would have to put an extra button on either side to have 2 play buttons on the CPO. Normally I wouldn't care, but I have an NOS unused CPO cover to use. I feel bad about hacking it to place a second button in, but at the same time, I like the idea of having several games in one as my space is very limited (max 3 arcade cabs). Are the Burgertime CPOs easy enough to find I don't need to worry and can 'go back' if I decide to try the extra buttons? Or should I buy a repro CPO and file my NOS away for future potential?

Any thoughts?

I would have MAMEmarquees print you up a custom BT CPO. There are no silk-screened reproes being actively sold by retailers currently, though Rich has hinted at doing another run. NOS BT CPO's can't be very plentiful either. The more I think about it, is this some kind of a joke?

haha, no it's not a joke, but this is the input I need. So far I'm thinking a hack is out of line. I had this impression before.

Is the mamemarquee repro textured?

Why not just wire P2START as the P2 button? You could even wire P1START as the P1 button so when you're playing 2 button games those are the two buttons you use. Of course they'd also be wired as P1 and p2 start.

Tell you what, I have a screened repro BT CPO I'd trade for your NOS one. Then you can hack away on the repro if you want.

That's a pretty darn good idea. There shouldn't be any issues right? When the game is underway it wouldn't care if you pushed the player start buttons...

As far as trading CPOs I'd concider that if you threw in a nice bezel too...

If I were you, I would modify the art file to incorporate your 2nd button and print it off at mamemarquees. Their CPO's are good quality and are laminated just like an original CPO.

All this talk of hacking CPOs... You all suck. I have been on the search for a BT CPO for nearly a year with no luck. Just want one so I can call my BT restoration finished!

You're in the same boat i was when i restored mine. The cure was to offer up $100 and all of a sudden several people came forward.

I hacked my "reproduction" NOS w/ the "midway" copyright info... I guess I suck!!! :)

FYI....that Midway Galaga CPO with the words ALL RIGHTS and RESERVED is cutt off - is a repro, not an original. The actual NOS would read ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. I know cause I have three true NOS Galaga CPO's. Notice your repro also says TRACKER BEAM (which is common on that repro version) instead of the words TRACTOR BEAM seen on the original NOS CPO.

So no worries on your hack!

heh... I wouldn't say a NOS Burgertime CPO is worth THAT much money considering the repro looks just as good and has never adhesive.

If Rich makes these again I will be buying a few. Hopefully someone repro's the bezel as well.

E-mail Rich because I could of sworn he said he was doing these again and real soon!!!

Well, I think I've come to a conclusion that I'll either use the player button or get a mamemarquee style. If they're that hard to find, it's not worth it to hack up. Thanks for the input!

You would be happy with the Mamemarquee CPO. I have one I bought more than 6 years ago for my Strider and it looks excellent. Has the same texture and is mostly clear. Yeah there is some blurring of the text if you look super close but it's not worth worrying about.
