...that is the question

I have an original pacman cabinet that I want to doll up nice. Ideally I would like the game to be as original looking as possible.

I was planning on doing yellow laminate with the side art decals, but I saw another member on here do a stencil method. I have painted stencils before on pinball cabinets, so I'm not afraid of it. But it is messier and more time consuming.

Since I'm sort of new to the arcade hobby, what do you guys think is the more desirable approach from a collectors perspective? Does it matter in the value at all if I were to resell eventually?

In the long run with a game as loved as Pac-Man I don't think it would matter when you go to sell it. To the average person decals would be fine. And I think you would get about the same money either way.

For myself and to a collector though, stencils are the way to go. The decals just don't look nearly as good to me.

Paint and stencils all the way

To me, it depends on the complexity of the artwork. If the stencil is extremely complex and runs the risk of failure without decent equipment, I usually use a decal. If the artwork on a game is too simple that it isn't worth setting up your equipment, I also usually go with a decal. Stenciling for me falls in between those two circumstances.

Spyridon. Beautiful cab! What types of paints and colors did you use?

How did you prep the surface?

curious when people redo pacman with stencils do they go so far as to add the little blue sort of specs that are in the originals?

Would think thats a tough thing to pull off right.

I did on mine:

I just used an old toothbrush dipped in blue paint to flick it onto the cab:

I see that you used pot shop line automotive paints, but what color codes did you use? What are all the other paint materials? Reducer, clear?
