Both games have 2 pcb's, i assume one would be a sound board. Are they interchangeable?

Thanks

nope. both are entirely different pcbs.
I have several of both if your interested in purchasing one or the other. TNF's are cheap and easy to find, HS not so much.

If you're having sound issues, I could take a look at them for you. I can't promise they'll get fixed, or a fast turn around time... but I won't make them any worse. lol ... probably. ;)

Seriously though, if you're having sound issues... I'd put it on the sound amp. Probably an LA4460? Pretty easy to find and cheap. I have a few boards here that use them and they seem to fail pretty regularly in my experience.

i think of the 7 or 8 of the TNF's that i repaired recently half of them had a bad amp. Either an LA4460 or 4461. I think one uses one and the other the other- but i don't remember which was which.... Easy enough to check in the schems though.
IIRC, i had one that had a bad socket on the sound eprom as well, and a few with bad pots.

Yeah, same here... but not TnF or HS. Gyruss, 2 bad amps. Time Pilot '84, bad amp. Tutankham, bad amp... started to notice a pattern. Again, they're not TnF or HS boards, but they're close enough.
