Trying to find a datasheet for a TMS4464 DRAM - no luck though. Any ideas please?

Failing that, can a TMS4464 be used as a drop in replacement for a TMS4416 - if not, can it be made to work via a small mod or two?

I have a Nemesis boardset here with a bad TMS4416 and only have spare TMS4464's, but no luck using a TMS4464 as a replacement (unless my TMS4464's are duff!).

Thanks

try a SMJ4464 - easy to find a datasheet for that one.

Nice idea, thanks.

Okay, looking at the pinout the 4464 is the same as the 4416 - so in theory the 4464 should work as a drop in replacement for the 4416. But it doesn't. Hmmm. Probablem doesn't appear to be elsewhere either.

What speed is the original TMS4416, and what speed is your replacement 4464?

Is this only a single RAM you are replacing? From the Nemesis schematics, looks like the memory is paired (2A with 2B, 4A with 4B, 6A with 6B, 7A with 7B). Try replacing a pair of RAMs if you have more than one spare.

Another thing to try is putting the larger RAMs at the end - so move the 4116's if they are socketed to 6B+6A, and 7B+7A. Put the 4464's at 2B+2A, or 4B+4A.

Othen than that, search for another board with 4116 RAMs (do you have a Fluke 9010A - I think they have 4116 RAMs internally, but don't quote me on it).

Old PC clone video cards, notably the CGA/Hercules combo cards used 4416 DRAMs as did the Korean versions of the 16K TRS-80 Color Computer.

Cheers guys, I'll try those suggestions. :)

BTW, the TMS4416 RAMs aren't socketed on this Nemesis boardset.
