So I'm strongly considering buying a TMNT machine from a guy looking to move it quick so I'm getting a great deal on it. Problem is the monitor is very much hit or miss. He says he can get it to turn on occasionally. So I have a few questions.

1. What could be the problem causing the monitor to do that?
2. How much would it cost to fix the issue?
3. If not fixable, what are my cheapest options?

Sorry this is a first post, so any help is greatly appreciated!

Just the monitor, or the whole game itself? I've noticed on my machine(No longer owned), and a few others I've played, that the power switch at the top of the cab is of rather poor quality and wears out...requiring it be turned on/off repeatedly or wiggled before the game will come on.

Replace that switch, no more problems.

Could be a flyback issue in my TMNT I have a K7000 chassis and the flyback was arcing replaced it works great.

How much would that cost? Also is there anyway to confirm this one way or the other, like maybe a test of some sort?

Finally if that doesn't work how much would a replacement monitor cost.

K7000 flyback is 28 dollars. A new monitor will range as long as the tube is ok which it seems it is then you can replace parts from the monitor chassis. It depends on how good of a deal you are getting from the seller

How cheap is too cheap? Finding them sub 5 dollars here. So many questions I know sorry, just trying to be thorough.

It's 95% probably got a Wells K7000 in it. If a K7000 hasn't been rebuilt in several years, it on and off goes into high voltage shutdown. Very common problem. A capkit will probably fix it, but you may also need a flyback... worse case scenario, it needs some other things, but most K7000 monitor chassis can be fixed for $100 or so by several people on this board, and also Chad at www.Arcadecrt.com (little more but with a warranty).

That's exactly what I wanted to hear! Thanks a ton guys, I'll be keeping this thread updated to try and get this done. Machine looks very clean though, getting a great deal on it.

Here's the biggest thing: Get the monitor to come on, and look and see if all the colors are there, and it's fairly bright. If it looks all washed out, or really dim, or all the green is gone, or the whole screen is bright red, or something like that... then you may have a tube problem, which is a pain in the ass to replace, and fairly hard to even find a replacement for since they haven't made the tubes in several years now. They can't be repaired in some cases.

This is what I'll have to do, hoping I can find some way for it to come on.
