TMNT major "CUSTOM" build project under way......

I had very fond memories driving through Alberta/Canada with, at the time, my best friend, during the summer of 1990. We hit the West Edmonton mall and every little tourist attraction along the way. Almost everywhere we went or stayed had a TMNT game. We sunk lots of quarters in to it. This winter I picked up my first 4 player Jamma cab for cheap. It was originally a TMNT but housed a 2 on 2 open Ice. This summer I began to work on it. One thing I always hated about the TMNT game was the cheezy side art with April holding a camcorder. So when I seen RidicRicks custom TMNT design I jumped at the chance.

He prints quality stuff and you won't be disappointed. I will post pics of the progress. So far.......sanded it down to the bone. repaired gibbled corner using bondo. Applied side art. Will be adding the kick plate and CPO as time permits.

The cab had ONE bad corner. seems to be a common rot spot on these Konami cabs as I have seen this spot broken on more then one cab. "Bondo" is your friend!!

The decals fresh off the press and then being applied to the sides.

More pics as I progress. Been a fun project so far.

To do list: "Acquired cap kit from Bob Roberts (aging WG monitor needs it)"
" Order GREEN T-mold and pick up fresh plexi for the marquee"

That is a great looking art package. Much better than the original.

Now learn to post bigger pictures :)

Wow, that's looking great so far! I just picked up a TMNT cab that was converted to NBA Jam at some point and i'm looking to convert the cp back to the original turtles one and add a few more buttons for a mame setup. I may just end up going with these graphics as they look pretty nice. Definitely let us know how it turns out once you make further progress. :)

ha! ha! ha! everytime I try and upload BIGGER i get a forum error saying file is too big!!
I should also mention this vinyl is very easy to work with. Should you need to pull it back some while applying to get rid of an air bubble or small crease, he made it possible to do so.

Will update progress......depending on time constraints

T-mold came in!! Sure like the Green. It works in this case.

Just waiting to hear back from Rick on the control panel overlay Art and we will have a finished project

Its looking pretty awesome! I just installed that same green T-molding on mine. I am probably 95% done with my cab now, just waiting on fleetwood to find me some wico joystick parts I need. :) We almost need a separate forum just for the TMNT cabs! lol

edit: BTW I just sent out a control panel graphic for test fitting on an actually TMNT control panel, once I get the news back that everything is 100% ok I will be ready to ship all the CPO graphics. :) I couldnt use mine to test fit because I had to completely make a new control panel.

Thats outstanding news Rick... Thanks

Art looks really cool on there. I wish they would have made an arcade game based on the newer movie the art is from. (assuming the game didnt suck anyway!)

However, still got to throw my towel in for the retro-80's look. Its part of the nostalgia for me. If a newer TMNT had come out that looked like this Id have it sitting right next to my 80's looking april arcade :)

That looks good. If that sideart had been around year ago I probably wouldn't have sold my Simpsons. I think it was a TMNT that got converted to. I had toyed with the idea of converting it back, but didn't like the sideart.

Although it seems I am the minority, I love the original artwork. Either way, Rick definitely did a badass job on this design. I have been following his restoration post, where he introduced this artwork, and I figured it would be a matter of time before someone put it on. Looks good man, I cannot wait to see the final pictures.

I picked retro because of the 80's hair on April. Thats hot.

She is WAY fine.........

been completed for a week or so now. Will get around to uploading the final pics soon...

Need a tmnt pcb? Hey is that a 68/78 Ta frame sitting there?

Got her completed finally! I seriously debated on what to do regarding the "control panel"
It was a NHL open Ice which is a super fun 4 player game that requires both a start button and a 3rd button to play. So i just left them in there hoping it wouldn't take too much away from the control panel. I grabbed a 3rd and 4th player harness from Jammaboards and have the panel wired up so all that is needed is a board swap to switch from turtles to NHL. This also leaves the door open for any other 4 player Jamma game that may require the 3rd button. Obviously, the start buttons and 3rd button have NO function during turtles game play!!

It was a fun project. ixtlann: Sharp eye. It's a 79 TA frame sitting there. I built my own cooker and will be powdering coating the frame, control arms, and all under hood gooding this winter. Yup......some of us have more then just 1 hobby
