I just recently picked up a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cabinet locally and it had a few minor issues. I've dealth with most of them as they didnt need much technical expertise, but I thought I'd ask about this one before I start messing with wires and such.

The coin slots for each player (1p-4p) dont match up to the appropriate characters and some of the characters dont match up to their controls. For example if I place a quarter in the 1p coin slot I get a credit for 4p controls (should be Raphael), but I play as 3p (Donatello). All the coin slots give credits to incorrect players, and the only controls that are swapped are 3p (Raphael) and 4p (Donatello).

I've got very little experience working on arcade machines, TVs and some home consoles so I dont feel overly confident with my skills quite yet. Every player in the game is usable now, so this isnt an urgent problem. Just hoping its a fairly easy fix someone can help me with so I can get it running like its supposed to.

Thanks!!

Make notes of the errors, then power off the machine.
You can physically move the wires on the coin switches to the correct position. You only have to move one wire of the switch. The common (ground) you do not have to move.

The same would apply to the joysticks. You will have to move the left, right, up, down wires to the correct joysticks. Again, you don't have to swap the ground wires.

I was hoping thats all I had to do. Thanks so much, I'll give it a try!

Before you move individual wires, if you look close, there's big plugs with several wires in them for each joystick, and also (I believe) for each coin door. So you may just have to swap a couple of the plugs. Look at the wires on one side of the plug, they should match the colors of the wires on the other side of each plug. I'll bet a couple are swapped around.

Before you even do that, the connectors for P3 and P4 are right next to each other on the PCB. Just swap those two connectors to fix the control issues.

Brian.

That might fix the control issues of players 3 and 4, but they are also having a issue with the coin slots of all players.
I'd suggest swapping the connectors of P3 & P4 on the PCB as stated and then see what happens. Might still have to swap the coin slot wires to correct issue.

Thanks for all the help guys! I ended up swapping the wires that were connected to the coin mechs and its back to normal now. 2 of the coin mechs themselves are a little iffy (I broke one while removing it and rigged it back together with a washer and some duct tape). Any good places I can buy a new coin mech for my machine should my fine craftsmanship fail me?
