Just picked up and working but cabinet is a mess. New overlay and joysticks incoming. Micro switches get stuck so will try to clean and save them but very excited. Grail 1 of 5 obtained. Will post progress and any tips greatly appreciated. Happy hunting.

Beyond jealous. I just picked up two of my grails, a dedicated spider-man and a converted 4 player TMNT. Now I just need the cab for it. Congrats on the pickup!

Wow!
You weren't kidding when you told me the cabinet was rough.
Congrats on the pick-up.
Looking foward to seeing the finished product.

Only real rough spots is the CPO, joysticks, one side of the side panel base is peeling up, coin mechs, and monitor isn't secure on the top like it should. Also found out no free play dip switch so will install 4 buttons underneath the control panel for credits.

Hey Dante,
How serious are you gonna get. Are you doing a Full Resto on the body?

I am currently Doing a Mortal Kombat cabinet. Best tip: Get a Heat Gun.
Get a heat gun & a small chisel or a heavy duty paint scraper if your gonna go to the bone. Get wood filler for the dents, Then Sand it down with a D/A with 80 grit.
That'll get ya nice and smooth if you are planning to apply the new Side Art.

Here a couple of pics. My project is on hold. Waiting for my side art from"This old game"

The black out line on the cab is used with a 44 magnum sharpie. I alway color the edges
black before installing the side art. she's ready for ART

Hit me up anytime.

Will be using bondo and a lot of sanding. Yes will apply side are and CPO is inc. I can't put junk in my basement.

Please just throw away the sticky micro switches! It's ok, as it's not going to devalue your game.. Hell, pay shipping and I'll send you enough new or nos micros for your whole game.. Cleaning micros is just silly :)

I've got nos joysticks for this game too..

Yep, throwing them out. Not expensive at all. Got my NOS joysticks and CPO in today. Sanding this weekend (wife is leaving and taking the kids).

Are those the nos joysticks pictured? I thought it took colored ball wicos? Like xmen, Simpsons, etc? But i could be wrong..

No, here are the NOS joysticks. Didn't have them unwrapped when I took the overlay picture. I want this thing in my basement ASAP.

Sound issue whenever me and my son button mash during big fights. Any suggestions.

Super common problem on the TMNT boards. One of the sound amp's is likely going bad. LM342 seems to come to mind off hand but I dont remember 100% for sure. There are two of them in the sound circuit on the board. Replace them both and see if that fixes your problem.

If thats not it, here are some of the best TMNT repair resources I found online.

I know Womble is on here as well, he is a great resource for this. I cant remember off hand if ArcadeKing is on here or not.

This is my favorite game ever :) Check out my restoration linked in my sig for TMNT if you need any pic's of what an "OEM" tmnt looks like. (Minus the stickers next to the coin doors, but I thought they looked cool there... )

Well first snag. My new joystick is to thick to fit in the existing micro switch base. Will need to replace all 4 with the correct size. Anyone know the base I need to fit these NOS TMNT shafts or anyone have to sell?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1337839859.746246.jpg

My original TMNT does not have any microswitch joysticks in it at all... I believe you said that you got NOS joysticks? Were you referring to just he handle / ball or the base as well?

I just have handle/ball.

Oh - OK. I would see if you can get the leaf style bases since those would fit the NOS sticks and you would also bring it closer to original.

Might be able to sell the microswitch controllers w/ the original sticks to recoup some of your costs.

Ok so the hunt for leaf style is on. Just need to find out size. Will sell my micro switches with joysticks now.

Hey Dante.
I.ve seen the wico bases on ebay. I don't think it matters to do the 4-way (gray) or the 8-way (black) being TMNT is not cross directional.
I know their pretty tough to find but ebay or local42 or gutz here on the board should have them.
Good Luck.
