When I got my Millipede cabinet ($100 non-working, replacing some RAM chips revived it), I noticed the red color was really weak even after adjusting the pots. Was sorta like it was slightly brighter when first turned on, then went dimmer after a few minutes (gradually enough to not be noticeable). Hoping it wasn't the tube, I did a cap kit and wow, the red was super bright after that. After adjusting the pots to a sane level, it looked great the few times I had powered it up to play it.

But now, a few weeks after, the red color is back to being dim again. But while playing it today, I saw the red brightness actually change right in front of me. From being really dim, to looking just right (no ramping/fading in between, just a sudden switch). It did it twice, lasting only a second or so before going back to being dim.

Any suggestions of where I should look to fix this?

if you don't have one, you should try to find a local guy with a rejuvenator to test and rejuve it if necessary

also, did you reflow new solder to the neckboard pots and all of the connector points when you capped it? always good practice to do so.

I was thinking first I'll try swapping the red wire to the neckboard with another color, that should prove if it's a board or tube problem.

I did desolder and resolder the connectors on the necktube, but I didn't think to do the pots. That makes sense, I'll try doing that when I have it out.
