My dot monitor died and I'm going to attempt to replace it this weekend. Any tips given that the monitor is mounted facing up? I've never even opened my dot :)

Oh, that's going to be a beast. I did a cap kit on my monitor and managed to get the Cup off in 3 minutes, but it took me 2 hours to get it back on. I still don't know how I did it. I even considered removing the monitor because it was so awful. From what I remember, it appeared to me that to remove the monitor, you're going to have to take everything apart. You've got to remove the monitor glass and bezel and probably the rear translight and everything else back there and take it out through the rear. If you figure it out, post pics. I would hate to have to do that, but if you have to you have to. Good luck!

Ugh. You have made me REALLY not want to do this :)

Yeah, it's a pain in the butt. You have to do it from the back. It might just unbolt and slide out after removing a couple brackets on either side, although you may have to take it apart like I did when I wanted to change one of the black lights in the middle of the cab above the monitor. IIRC, you have to remove a shroud with a bracket attached, then another bracket, then a mirror, then another bracket, then an interior bezel - THEN you can access the bulb...

...which is why I put in new bulbs, starters, and ballasts when I did my restoration ;)

I did it for a customer who needed me to shop it out. Everything had new bulbs when I was done, but I couldn't get my Popeye forearms to fit through the marquee area to reach that bulb. Oh well, I needed to take it apart to clean the mirror and interior bezel anyway...
