tip102 dead. Repair options?

This will probably not be a popular opinion but if it's working otherwise and only needs a TIP102 replaced I would consider leaving it like that. It would really depend on what I was planning to do with the game. If I was doing a detailed restoration I would definitely fix it but if I just wanted to play it I would leave it like that and play it until something broke.

I can't do it, OCD won't let me.;)

OCD about non-working lamps on pins too.;)

Me too. If I call a game restored you can be sure everything will be working. I've built several lamp driver board test rigs for that very reason.

That said... it's pretty easy to overlook something like wires soldered to boards on a working game when you have a warehouse full of games requiring real work. Like I said... If I were restoring it I would fix it. If I just wanted to play it I wouldn't give that connector a second though.

Screw that. I just replaced 10 dead insert lamps on my Whodunnit to get it at 100% lighting. It's only been 2 weeks or so, and I noticed a case lamp is out. There is no way I am pulling the glass, lifting the playfield, and hunting down my bulbs for one stinking light.

I started replacing some of the under plastic bulbs with LEDs and it looks simply amazing. In the pic above only the ones on the right are LED with a few others scattered around the playfield. It is such a pain to get to some of the bulbs and it is worth the work to get an LED in there.

I have become slightly OCD about pimping my machines. Got paid today and am gearing up for another pinballlife order. Still have to do the flipper rebuilds too.

I have it so bad that I WILL pull the glass for 1 bad bulb.
