I think that for future, major cabinet restorations, it's a good idea to check if the t-molding slot has widened, lost some of the slot/bite/wood.
My Robotron repaint is over, but I realize now that when the original t-molding was removed long ago, some splinters of wood came out with it. It looks normal at first glance, but the new t-molding will not stay in. I tried installing the new with hot glue, pressing it in with a j-roller, holding it, etc...
I ended up yanking it back off..just wouldn't stay flush in the curved areas and looked sloppy.
I bought a slot cutting bit, so I think I will fill the slot with wood filler epoxy, then tape a layer of paper over the painted side for protection and recut the slot. Pain in the ass....
As much work as I did on the cabinet, this seems relatively minor, but I hate to do it after the paint job.
